Well, if you must stay in Santo Domingo, you sure don't want to pay a lot. This was a fair price. The wifi was solid. The front desk person was excellent, met me at the door and insisted on carrying my bag. If you can avoid Santo Domingo, I would. I was out exploring, I went so you don't have to. There are no good restaurants in walking distance that I could find. That's not the hotel's fault. AC worked well. Hot water in the shower was good.

The owner and staff were very friendly and amazingly helpful. They made my stay feel like being at home. They arranged a visit to Tsachilis and to the Zoological Reserve. The owner arranged a shared taxi direct to my hotel in Quito which was very convenient and cost the same as taking the bus but without all the hassle. Also helped me get to a bank which I could not find on the map. (My fault as I kept getting confused trying to follow the map as there as so many twisty streets.) There was a fridge in my room which helped keep foods for a special diet cool. There is an elevator which was of benefit for going down stairs as I have perception problems.
