The staff were very attent and eager to help. I arrived much earlier than expected and they let me check-in and use the gym (which has everything g you need and Inhad it all it all myself myself whole time I worked out there) for a couple of hours while room was being prepared. There was a sufficient variety at the buffet during all meals and some really delicious options. I love the fact that the only thing you can hear from the room is the sound of the sea. It was perfect for disconnecting and getting the peace and quiet that I needed even though it was only a few steps from the centre of the town. I got a great deal on booking.com when I booked a couple of mo that ago so it was really great value for money.

It's just too crowded and the air is very polluted.

It's just too crowded and the air is very polluted. If you like big city life then you'll like Salinas. But if you want a place where you can just relax on the beach, this is not that place. Beaches are VERY crowded, lots of background noise. Honestly the air pollution here is horrible for a peninsula. It smells like Newark, New Jersey.

Even though the address of El Faro is technically Salinas,...

Even though the address of El Faro is technically Salinas, it's really about 8 miles from the city center, and my only excursions into town were for dinner. I had no complaints about the quality of the food, which is generally excellent, but Salinas itself has very little charm, since it's more of a beach community for people from Guayaquil. If I return to the area, I will make a point of heading further north on the coast, to slightly more remote, quiet places (NOT Montañitas).

I didn't see anything of interest here. Beach is very mediocre. Trust me skip this city and try somewhere else. I went to Manta and it was much better. i didn't find Manta to be overly exciting but it was much nicer than Salinas. I thought the Salinas was not nice at all- no nice buildings, no fancy restaurants etc.

Salinas is a beautiful place, full of options for lodging, good food, and entertainment, with lovely nearby beaches, and above all, it's a safe place, which is super important to consider these days. It's my favorite place, and I especially recommend La Chocolatera, a true local treasure. I also recommend El Velero Restaurant; the food is delicious.

Improve the streets and maintain proper signage; ensure the running and cycling lanes are respected; care for the palm trees and plant more, giving them the attention they deserve; make tourist information about activities more visible; maintain the chocolate factory (repair all the woodwork and improve signage); offer a wider variety of food options; and improve access for interprovincial buses.

It's very nice, obviously it gets very crowded on holidays, but the beaches are beautiful and the food is delicious. Whether you're with family, alone, or as a couple, it's lovely and always enjoyable. La Chocolatera is my favorite place.

Location is perfect, it is a well maintained hotel and a great restaurant directly on the boulevard. The direct mini-bus office and departure/arrival point from/to Guayaguil is just around the corner.
