Perfect location a few minutes walking from the centre of Oberammergau which is a lovely little town. Short drive away from Linderhof. The room waa clean and spacious, the bacony was great, the beds comfortable. The lady at the reception was extremely nice, answered all questions about restaurants and walks in the area. The breakfast was also really tasty. Definitely recommend staying here if someone is in the area.

Ettals main, and only, attraction is the Abbey. Which is certainly impressive. You'll most likely visit Ettal for the region, as it is a great point to start your hikes and/or visit Oberammergau and Garmisch-Partenkichen. Munchen and Innsbruck are only an hour drive away.

This busy hotel has the feeling of a youth hostel.

This busy hotel has the feeling of a youth hostel. Rooms are simply but practically equipped. There’s a constant coming and going of tourists. Unfortunately, I couldn’t bring me dog to breakfast. I wasn’t told that outside it is possible. Breakfast was basic. Scrambled eggs came in squared chunks, thus probably defrozen. Lots of plastic (Marmelade, Butter,…) The whole personnel is polish. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, I had just expected a Bavarian host. All in all my stay here felt like holidays off an assembly line.

Beautiful scenery. Plenty of restaurants. Conveniently located. Very friendly mayor. Well-maintained nature reserves nearby. Guided tours of the church and distillery are highly recommended. Entrance fees to Linderhof Palace and the Grotto are surprisingly reasonable, and the tourist crowds are managed very effectively.

We always come to Ettal in winter for cross-country skiing.

We always come to Ettal in winter for cross-country skiing. It's ideally located for that. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough snow this time, and we had to drive to Seefeld. But otherwise, we always enjoy coming back to Ettal. A guided tour of the monastery is also highly recommended.

A wonderful hotel with an incredible view of the mountains. You can reach the sights by hand. But it is best to travel by your own car or rent one. This is the best way to get to the hotel and other attractions.

Ettal is not a village, but a magnificent, enormous...

Ettal is not a village, but a magnificent, enormous religious structure surrounded by a few houses. The sensation, wonderful yet alienating, is that the abbey resembles an alien spaceship that has landed out of place. All this surrounded by mountains and meadows. Beautiful!

We were in a room on the top floor of the building, which has wide stairs and corridors, decorated in a classic way. The appartment was very good , with comfortable beds, a spacious bathroom and good internet. The breakfast was very good, and the service excellent. The building is close to the monastery of Ettal.
