I chose this hotel for a weekend getaway in the Black Forest, as it was close to some hiking paths I wanted to explore and it offered half-board and a fitness centre. The staff was extremely friendly and I was able to communicate with them in English, since my German is still quite rudimentary. There was enough parking space outside when I arrived, but a garage at an extra cost can also be arranged. Google Maps directions were also very clear and precise. The hotel is comfortable overall. I especially enjoyed the Christmas decorations, mainly in the dining room. Speaking of dining, the food was very good and they had plenty of options the evening I ate there, including vegetarian. The breakfast buffet was also plenty enough, with eggs, cold meats, cheese, cereals, fruit, etc. The gym is quite small, but I could get a run and some stretches done (I took a towel from my room, and maybe you should bring a water bottle as well, but there’s a little buffer station by the pool that is next to the gym. I also managed to use the pool and do some laps, but I was hoping to find a place to sit or lay down, like a chaise-longue, but there wasn’t enough space and everything was taken over or “reserved” with towels and robes by other people. But the water temperature was ok and the pool looked cleaned. My tiny complaint is about the room. The room itself is more than adequate for one person, but the bed was very uncomfortable and there was only one very soft pillow. I had to fold some of the towels inside the spa basket to make an extra “pillow”, but I didn’t sleep well at all. Also, the bed was quite spacious for one, but the duvet cover was single-sized… Luckily I found some blankets in the wardrobe to keep the duvet from coming off near my feet and to keep me warmer. Also, the bathroom is quite dated, especially the shower. Also, no body lotion, so I’m glad I brought my travel-sized one as well as my shampoo and Havaianas (for the pool). Very large room, nice quiet location. Lovely breakfast. Staff all really friendly. Very dog friendly, can even sit in a different part of the restaurant with your dog. Close to town, taxi (they allow dogs aswell) or 20 minute walk. Plenty of car parking. Spa facilities although we didn’t use them (wish we brought our swimming things but we forgot). Everyone was so nice and made a big fuss of our dog, nothing was to much for them. Thank you!

We felt like the hotel and restaurant in a historic building were an authentic Black Forrest experience. It certainly enhanced our trip to this region. We slept well, ate well, and would go back...we recommend this hotel.

First of all - the people.

First of all - the people. They were genuinely warm and caring people. Secondly - the location. Absolutely perfect for a week-long getaway from the heat and big city in Arizona. Third - The breakfast is the real deal. The only complaint is that the hot water is only available at certain times, which is not early enough for an early riser. I paid about 40 per night and feel that it is a great value. Would gladly pay 10 more per night hot water was always available.

We stayed here for 1 night we loved the location. Premises are very big but dated needed to be decored. Had a meal cooked for us which was great and good value.Rooms were basic for a 1 night stay breakfast was plentiful & hosts were very friendly & welcoming.I have actually booked to return and stay 6th sept 24

The town is kind of "dead".

The town is kind of "dead". There is gorgeous landscapes around, and nice hiking attractions, but the town itself is a bit quiet and sad. During our visit, I believe there was only one restaurant open, with very little activity on the streets.

The Gasthof is a nostalgic accommodation.

The Gasthof is a nostalgic accommodation. You hear waterstresms from the terrace. Your view from the room is Forest....and it is on the Crossroads of many hiking trails. Do not forget to see the waterfall and the great lookout point

I would definitely go there again for more days.The couple who work this place is very very friendly and is always there for whatever you need.The place is fantastic.Also there is a waterfall in the opposite side of the hotel and you can go on foot.I would suggest to other people to stay there.
