This is a delightful little guesthouse in the most idyllic Bavarian town. Do note that you have to check in at the sister hotel a few minutes away, and this is also where the restaurant/breakfast is. But the hotel itself is lovely, very clean and comfortable. The food and service at the restaurant was also excellent.

Suspect this is a winter destination mostly.

Suspect this is a winter destination mostly. In summer it is very quiet with few options for evening dining. Very accessible location by car, with rail connections to Munich and Salzburg. Beautiful location at the base of the mountains. Everything you need for an easy stay is in the town- laundry, supermarket, petrol station etc. Easy access by Carr to towns around the big lake. Lots of cycling and hiking going on, and easy to hire electric bikes and boats. Just 11km from Austrian border with cheaper petrol and even better scenery. A great base for a touring holiday round and about. We would go back without hesitation.

We really enjoyed Aschau again.

We really enjoyed Aschau again. We've been there three times now. There are plenty of things to do. Excellent hiking trails. With the visitor's card, you can use the bus and train for free. The restaurants are adequate. We highly recommend the Gasthof Kampenwand and Wirsthaus zum Baumbach (which has a great beer garden).

We really enjoyed Aschau, Hohenaschau, and the surrounding...

We really enjoyed Aschau, Hohenaschau, and the surrounding area. We were able to do both easy walks and challenging hikes. Both towns have good inns with friendly hosts and really good food. The huts along the hiking trails to the Kampenwand are fantastic.

The accommodation was excellent!

The accommodation was excellent! The landlord was also great; he answered my questions quickly and kindly. I will definitely come back to this very beautiful, friendly village in the Chiemgau region. I used to go to Übersee/Feldwies quite often, but Aschau is truly a gem in the Chiemgau!

Aschau im Chiemsee is conveniently located near the A8 motorway, Lake Chiemsee, and Austria. Activities such as hiking, cycling, and shopping (e.g., at outlets in Bernau and Felden) are readily available. Children's activities are also easily accessible, including the Kampenwand cable car, the Prien climbing park, the Ruhpolding leisure park, and the Marquartstein fairytale adventure park.

We only stayed one night due to our journey to Slovenia.

We only stayed one night due to our journey to Slovenia. It was a beautiful location with many cycling routes, close to the highway, and there were several restaurants nearby. The room was very clean. The only downside was that there was no refrigerator in the room and no tea/coffee making facilities.

Very pleasant, spacious and clean room. Village was convenient for the autobahn. Managed to arrange collection from key safe as delayed on journey - would be easier if they offered this as standard given the check-in (and breakfast) is at another hotel 5-10 minutes walk away. We had a quadruple room, which was perfect for 4 adults for an overnight stop - with the bed and large, comfortable sofa-bed being in separate rooms. Nice bakery in town.
