Total gem, old fashioned style of hotel polite staff, lovely lady in charge, amazing location. KP is remote it takes about 2 hours to drive from Paphos but it’s well worth it. KP has been stranded by the Turkish invasion of 1974, it used to be a fairly short journey from Nicosia via Morphou, which can’t be carried out with a hire car. Break with the normal 14 days around the pool, go and see a different Cyprus stay here for two or three days, there is no pool but it’s on a beach. The rooms are clean, recently renovated, the shower was awesome, the bed comfortable, the a/c worked well, there was a great Cyprus breakfast of tomatoes, cheese, ham bread and coffee. The evening meal was superb, you will not believe the depth of colour of the locally produced olive oil on the salad!

We spent our mornings going for a swim in the local beach riding the free bicycles provided by the host and eating fresh fruit from the trees by the house. We got around the winding roads with a car and hiked along the mountainsides. The combination of mountains by the sea was breathtaking. Host was very welcoming and accomodating to all our needs. If you want to feel the local charm and avoid touristy places then Pomos and Joanna's Apartments are the places to be.

Kato Pyrgos is a very quiet place on the north west coast of...

Kato Pyrgos is a very quiet place on the north west coast of Cyprus, not easily accessible without a car. We went in September which is still holiday season, but you wouldn't know it! Most visitors here seem to be people from Nicosia and Limassol who come for the weekend, so if you want a quieter time go during the working week. It is a great place for a short break, but a week is probably too much. We ate in Grape by the sea, where we watched the sun go down while eating good quality food. On our second night we ate at the Tylos Hotel and Restauarant, this has an extensive menu, including fresh fish choices, and is also right on the seafront, near the main sandy beach. Kato Pyrgos is essentially a one street village, but the street is longer than it seems, so if you are going from one end to the other, take the car.

Very safe location. Very friendly owners. Very clean.

Very safe location. Very friendly owners. Very clean. Need a car though to get to the sea and village. Recommend "Grape" bar and eatery. Omega beach bar (as you enter the town) is the best place to go for a swim. This is a free sandy beach but with a good bar. Be aware that you can't take a hire car over the border into the Turkish sector.
