Canl Grande Lodge is a very cozy hotel not far from San Josè International Airport, immersed in nature. The staff was utmost kind and helpful in assisting me since my luggages weren't loaded on the flight and I didn't have anything with me, apart from a little bag. The hotel provided me with basic stuffs in a stressful moment for me. Breakfast was very good, definitely to come and stay more nights in this hotel. The cleanliness of the room and the transfer service from the airport arranged by the hotel were very appreciated.

Photos don’t do justice. This is a beautiful property with an absolutely beautiful harmony between nature and the construction. The energy of the place is superb. It breaths love, peace and harmony. Unexpected nature lung care with love. Everything is balance, plants and trees are healthy, birds are singing all over the place, the soil is healthy. The room is gorgeous, the outside shower is a dream. I regret not been able to stay more days.

Hotel Pibi Boreal is ideal for short stays if you don’t want to travel immediately after landing in Costa Rica. We were warmly welcomed by the host, who picked us up directly from the airport and drove us to the hotel. Upon arrival, we arranged breakfast for the following morning, which we enjoyed on the balcony of our room—a lovely, relaxing start to the day. I loved the fact that’s it’s a resort but it’s in the nature and not crowded, like a boutique resort. Wonderful room, amazing view, nice environment and atmosphere. Good breakfast with a view. You can hike to waterfalls from the hotel, inside the resort ! And there is a little farm with animals, my child loved it. Not far away from the airport so that’s very convenient when we arrive/depart from San Jose and there are plenty of things to do around, including visiting the volcan Poas.

San Antonio itself is a great base to travel from, it is close to Airport and to Car rentals, there are Supermarkets nearby also if self catering, however it is a little too far from other central attentions if your intension is to stay in San Jose itself.

Cute little town near the airport.

Cute little town near the airport. Probably not a destination, but, if you have a night to kill before flying out, it's fine. Otherwise, there isn't anything I know of to draw visitors. Couple cute restaurants on the main street. Felt safe walking around after dark.

We did more in San Antonio than we expected to do.

We did more in San Antonio than we expected to do. The church in the center of town was welcoming, and there are a lot of restaurants with good food and service. The bussing to other areas (San Jose and Heredia) is well marked and has an appropriate schedule. Plus, the area felt safe to walk after sunset. Because of its convivence, we extended our hotel stay to stay in the area, and only bussed to San Jose for the day.

For us La Rivera is a take off and arrival point, so the easy airport access is important. It is an easy walk to a phone store or Pali supermarket for some basics, and the local pista, church and park give you a safe introduction to Costa Rica. There is not much else to do in the immediate area.

This hotel was a gem! The photos did not do it justice. We booked it for our last night in Costa Rica and enjoyed it greatly. The surroundings and decor were tasteful. My husband also enjoyed a dip in the pool. A big thank you to the staff members as they were exceptionally nice and helpful - I don't like coriander and the staff members did everything to make sure I would have no coriander in my food. If we go back to Costa Rica we will book a longer stay in this hotel as they also organise wildlife trips.

We got picked up from the airport and they also transferred us the next day to our rental car pickup location - so kind! The hotel has it's own restaurant where we experienced the Costa Rican breakfast for the first time. Near the hotel we also managed to get our CR sim card and some groceries so it was a perfect short stay to start our trip!

The gardens at the hotel are beautiful and very peaceful. The hotel staff are very friendly. You can tell the hotel is well cared for. The only disappointment was the noise of the planes taking off so close to the hotel. We did not know this when we booked.

Staff are friendly here. I left for airport at 3:00 AM. They prepared fruit and coffee as breakfast for me. They also kindly help me receive packages. Also, the room is very huge. Food is also great in the restaurant of the hotel.
