Lovely place to stay. Close to the shops and promenade. Really helpful and friendly staff. Good bar for in the evenings. Close to sodas. Good walk to the tip of Puntarenas. Lovely pool area. All very clean - lots of staff.

YES, you must go there. Great place with lots of activities. Travis took us out in the nice old life boat 'Nicoya Queen'. Went to the prisoner island and Travis made the best lobster we've ever had. Thanks :) The breakfast is excellent. Nice traditional Tico breakfast or best: Travis' special egg benedict! Not to forget: You can also borrow canoes and go on a trip yourself. A slightly absurd but totally pleasant place to stay. The hay-days of this sister-establishment of that Caribbean hotel from the Godfather movies are, however, long gone. There is maybe even a casino (advertised but not seen). There certainly is a lovely pool on a desolate roof but it seemed to be out of hours. Checking in, you get a festival-like bracelet which is most annoying and entirely unnecessary. We ripped ours off which ever so slightly disgruntled the otherwise helpful and correct reception guy. The queen beds are HUGE, as in much broader than long. AC works. The antiquated feel of the whole place is more pronounced in the bathroom where a 30cm shower cabin threshold makes for one of many interesting interior design solutions some of which weren’t cool even back in the 1970s. This is, however, not a bad place to stay at all. Rooms are nice and clean. There is a supervised parking and 24h reception and the ferries of Puntarenas are at 75 m which makes this. Perfect stop for those early ferry departures.
