Sabalo Lodge was the best place we stayed in CR. The area is huge, you can fully enjoy the privacy and the jungle with all what it brings. You will see plenty of animals in the lodge itself, on top of it there is a private trail to explore. Anouk and Kevin are amazing hosts, they will make sure your dreams will become true! The lodge is in the middle of the jungle and I strongly suggest to explore all what it has to offer from various nearby activities and wider area to amazing cuisine made of the local products by Kevin and Esmeralda who discovered an art in mixing French and Costa Rican tastes! Highly recommend not to miss this place as rare and precious!

Difficult to get to- jeep/ 4-wheel drive! But worth it!!! Interesting dirtroad drive with slopes. Family lodge with three separate houses. Great food. Clean. All type of anlmals and birds can be seen just by walking down to the beach and along the walks going from beach to beach to beach! Great help from Eduardo to book fishing etc. So much more nature animals birds etc and less tourist than e.g. Manuel Antonio national park.

Amazing stay with a very friendly host who was good at English and always helpful. It is a secluded area, so bring snacks when arriving. Would definitely visit again!

Great location. The room has everything you need, including a warm shower. The view was stunning, and the tree in front of the balcony is full of iguanas. We didn’t use the kitchen but it has everything you need if you want to prepare a proper meal / breakfast. We didn’t see any reviews when we booked, but we can absolutely recommend this place if you’re looking for a stay in Drake Bay. The owner also works for a tour agency, so he can help you plan any trip.

We felt so very welcomed by the super friendly owner Eliana and her house is cozy, beautiful and unique. Situated at the River Sierpe and in a lush garden we were surrounded by the stunning nature. We went on an early morning boat trip for three hours organized by Eliana and saw lots of different birds, some crocodiles, some caymans and two species of monkeys (capuchin and squirrel monkeys). After the boat trip Eliana indulged us with a delicious breakfast. We would have loved to stay longer... Thank you so much! ♡
