a basic, but charming stay at zapallar. zapallar is a small, but beautiful jewel at the chilean coast (think cote d'azur crossed with Monterey CA). Evidently without much hotels, much more oriented towards its own population, with an attractive and beautiful beach, surrounded by large, mostly expensive houses. the hosteria lies a bit up the hill but still in the centre (beach is within a very walkable distance), and very close to shops and some good restaurants. the hosteria has a good private parking place. interior of the hosteria is functional but basic, and it offers public kitchen facilities. the family room was not oversized, and the bathroom facilities were adequate. beds were ok. friendly reception, no breakfast included.

Everything was great! The Location, the Hostel, the Room and the view with the sea! It was only a 5 minute walk to the beach and you have everything there. Quite places, busy places, surfstations. We have been there now a couple of times. For me, it's the best beach town for a weekend trip from Santiago; it's simply nicer and cleaner than other towns in the area (although also more pricey).

I didn't know it, I found it beautiful... but lots of curves... and if you don't know the area it's easy to get lost... if it's your first time, use Waze or Google Maps... not much choice of places to go for coffee...

Zapallar is beautiful, and the surrounding area is too.

Zapallar is beautiful, and the surrounding area is too. There's an electric bus that goes all the way to Catapilco, and passengers ride for free—a truly exemplary service. Along the beach, there are pedestrian paths perfect for strolling along the lovely coastline.

Unfortunately, because it was Christmas Day, all the shops were closed. There was nowhere to get a coffee or a light meal. Luckily, Cesar's restaurant on the beach was open, and even though it was crowded, we received excellent service.

This is the perfect bay, just like the ones you see in the movies. It's mostly known to locals, and on a sunny weekday, we had the large sandy beach practically to ourselves. I've heard, however, that it can get very crowded on weekends and holidays.

Carla´s flat is very spacious, very nicely decorated and with stunning views to the Pacific coast. The terrace is almost as big as the flat and has many different areas to relax or to have a nice breakfast or dinner. The sunsets are breathtaking. The communication was excellent and the place is very quiet. We usually woke up to the sound of the waves. A perfect get away location perfectly located between Zapallar and Cachagua. Highly recommended. Looking forward to being back.

Lovely fin-de-siècle mansion in the best location of Zapallar, by the beach, the coastal path, and an excellent restaurant. The staff makes one feel at home, lighting a fire in the late afternoon and setting out tea and cake for guests to serve themselves. This is not a hotel for people who demand the sterile monotony of so many contemporary hotels, but for those who’d like to experience an authentic slice of Chilean history.

Loved our stay in this small boutique hotel, which is decorated in a modern and elegant style, but at the same time feels homey and cozy. We had the twin room, with 2 spacious and comfortable beds. The staff was welcoming and friendly. Breakfast is top with fresh homemade products, we tried the restaurant one evening for dinner and the food was very good as well. Easy parking on the street close to the hotel
