Lovely Hotel with even lovelier staff and a great hardworking group of people who work the restaurant. Very close to the railway which takes you on a direct line to Appenzel or Wasserauen for your favorite hikes.. The Breakfast Buffet was great! Currently undergoing a renovation so the rooms will be even better in the future! Would definitely come back here again!

An amazing host Lise - a very helpful, knowlegable and friendly person with who I had a very intersting conversation. I would honestly recomend this BnB to anyone. Such a lovely athmosphere built by Lise. I can’t wait to find some time and go back :) A wonderful breakfast served by Lise with a super cheap price. Amazing, tasty, fresh and healthy. The host, Pascal, is very nice and friendly. The apartment is also nice with the kitchen and bathroom newly renovated. The surrounding is very nice and quiet. It's a perfect location if you visit Santis or Appenzell region. The view going to the apartment is also wonderful.

The owner(Robert) came to pick us up from the train station and he is very friendly. Hotel is near to the Appenzell train station(600m) We got an early check-in and late check-out. Delicious breakfast buffet. Spacious bathroom with a bath tub. Large balcony with a beatifull city view.

Friendly staff that was very helpful. We had a last minute change of plans and the staff was very accommodating. The food in the restaurant is amazing. We speak English only and everyone was incredibly friendly. Located within walking distance to many great activities and shops. The room was very comfortable and clean.

Visiting Santis was the best part of visiting Urnäsch.

Visiting Santis was the best part of visiting Urnäsch. It is a must see. Have awesome views from the summit and also learnt quite a lot about weather and weather measurement. I really enjoyed traditional swiss dishes for my lunch at Santis Terrace Hotel and dinner at Restaurant Lowen in Urnäsch. Urnäsch can be comfortably reached by train from Zurich. There is public transport bus 791 from Urnäsch Bahnhof to Santis Cable Car Station. There are lots of hiking trails in the region. I recommend you to go on the Rondom Appenzoll hike. It is a short easy round trip hike around Appenzell which can be done in around 2.5 hours. In spring there are flowers everywhere and every part of the hike looks like a post card.

Urnäsch is very suitable for a short stay, as it is easily accessible (on foot, by public transport). There are several accommodation options, but few restaurants. On Pentecost Sunday, only one restaurant was open. The Hotel/Restaurant Löwen was the only place open during our stay – but I highly recommend it.

I love the village of Urnäsch, the delicious food, the friendly locals, and the mountain scenery. You can go on fantastic hikes from Urnäsch. Schwägalp, with the famous Säntis mountain, is very close by! Other villages, such as the beautiful Appenzell, are easily accessible by train!

A charming little village in a beautiful landscape, with a wonderful local history museum, restaurants, a supermarket, and a bakery. The train stops in the village every 30 minutes, so you can usually leave your car parked. The bus to the Säntis mountain also departs from the train station.

This is a friendly, picturesque town in the heart of the Swiss Alps. There are shops, a post office, a bakery, and the local cheese factory Urnäscher Käserei, which we highly recommend. The surroundings are picturesque, with cows, sheep and goats grazing in the meadows. In the distance, the sugar-coated mountain peaks rise.

Urnäsch is a small village in the Appenzell region.

Urnäsch is a small village in the Appenzell region. There are several cheese dairies and small shops. It's very quiet here. The roads are well-paved, so you'll have no problems even with a racing bike or mountain bike.
