Would like me to say thank you to the owner who was helpful and especially when we needed help with the cooker. The apartment was easy to find and is located close to coop market. It has mountain views. WiFi, small bathroom with shower and hot water, comfortable beds and a kitchen. We stayed only for one night. It's small but was enough for us . Highly recommend.

I never got the woman’s name who checked us in and took care of us for our entire stay, but she really was the best. We checked in on 21/8 for 2 nights. We had a delicious meal at the restaurant downstairs. Beds were comfy. Everything was sparkling clean. The views - unbelievable. We booked this last minute and weren’t very prepared for the mountains - she even offered her own clothes when we said we wanted to go hiking 🥹 Another gentleman brought us delicious prosciutto and melon to start our dinner the 2nd night. This stay was a 100/10 and we already want to return - better prepared ;-) Thank you for everything.

Aiolo is probably beautiful in the snow and it has superb...

Aiolo is probably beautiful in the snow and it has superb trails up behind in the countryside with Swiss cows wearing bells and mountain goats. Lovely old houses and probably once a delightful place. Sadly now dominated by a huge concrete factory and all the noise and dust that entails. Better to stay at the San Gottardo hotel probably, which is actually ON the pass itself, or above the pass.

nice ski resort, bit hidden from the rest of switzerland but great for a weekend, especially when there has been a dump. Airolo itself has seen better times. There are a couple of restaurants in the street in front of the station, not much to see otherwise

Who in their right mind would want to go to Airolo?

Who in their right mind would want to go to Airolo? Usually travellers that use the Gotthard-tunnel in northerly direction. We decided to dodge the traffic jam and stay the night as near to the tunnel entrance as possible. For those that want to stay the night and travel on through the tunnel the next morning: make sure you’re on time! (Certainly before 9AM and preferably earlier) During peak-season the northbound entrance to the motorway at Airolo is blocked during the day, to prevent cut-through traffic. If that happens you have to backtrack on the old road to entrance nr 42 at Quinto and join the motorway queue north all over again. When you arrive in the afternoon and there are long queues for the Gotthard, don’t join them until you reach exit 41 at Airolo, but leave the motorway at the earlier exit at Quinto and make your way to Airolo using the local road.

A top destination for anyone captivated by the Gotthard Pass...

A top destination for anyone captivated by the Gotthard Pass. It's definitely worth driving across the pass and enjoying the scenery. Since the pass has been renovated, it's easily accessible. Day trip tip: The old pass can also be explored by stagecoach, with a guide and with advance reservation, of course.

Great hotel for an overnight stay while traveling.

Great hotel for an overnight stay while traveling. Easily accessible. Friendly staff, clean, comfortable bed, and delicious breakfast. We arrived late at night, but they still made us a delicious dinner. There was a bit of traffic noise in the morning, but we had to leave early anyway, so that wasn't a problem.

Due to roadworks in front of the hotel, we cannot recommend BB Garni Motta; we cannot comment on other accommodations. Airolo is recommended for excursions due to its central location.

Breakfast was offered; the hotel was located next to a supermarket and various restaurants; and the staff were very friendly, speaking both English and Italian. The room was also quite comfortable, as not only was it spacious, but it had a TV and coffee machine. While fairly small, the en suite bathroom was exceptionally clean and well-kept.

A well appointed apartment in central Airolo. The hosts had even set the heating running prior to our arrival on motorcycles on a very wet day. The washer and drier were much appreciated.

I’ve been before. The town of Airolo sitting as it does at the bottom of two of the great Alpine climbs is a Mecca for cyclists. The hotel caters specifically to them.
