I had my wedding in the Hotel and was provided two halls, one for the ceremony and the other for reception; also I had to make reservation in the hotel for family and friend that were flying from other province to attend the wedding. The design and deco of the hotel halls blew my mind despite the pricing being really reasonable. The staff (esp. Sandra, Joan and Rose) were really helpful in the organising and planning of the wedding, I could not thank them enough. Also, our family and friends that stayed in the hotel for two nights to attend the wedding were impressed with hotel and my wife & I shared similar view having spent our first night after being married in the hotel.

The RAM (royal alberta museum) is well worth the trip. The leduc #1 oilwell museum in Devon is worth it. West edmonton mall is fun. They reynolds museum in Wetaskiwin is worth it. fort Edmonton park, Science North, Krazy Binz - all worth a visit. Get the coupon book and save some coin. :)

Edmonton is a great city, although there is far too much...

Edmonton is a great city, although there is far too much poverty on the streets and its sad to see. One can do better and be better, so that's something the City should do better at. Maybe take some pointers from Calgary or something. It has lots of things to do during each season and as the year passes by. There are plenty of places to dine in or out, and plenty of options. Edmonton has a ton of amazing restaurants and/or fast food links. The bus system needs a bit of work but once they have their trains and construction out of the way then it'll be a lot quicker to get to and from places. There are a lot fo thigs to do such as go to the casino's, or comedy shows, ice skating, hockey events, site seeing, etc...

We were there because of an emergency landing of our plane which was traveling to California. I didn't see much of Edmonton therefore. They did say Lake Louise and Banff were only 4 hours away, so that might make it interesting for someone.

The city is not the most beautiful.

The city is not the most beautiful. Many areas in it feel like industrial. We stayed 3 days in this city, and besides Waterpark and museum, there was nothing that caught our interest. The downtown was grey and empty.

The street food and regular food in the restaurants were...

The street food and regular food in the restaurants were good. The Train and Bus services were very good too. Great city but the sanitation has to be improved. I witnessed an unfortunate accident but within 10min, the Police, Ambulance, fire services, Rescue truck all arrived the scene to help the accident victim. The response time was excellent and commendable to the authorities in Edmonton.

It is easy to get around Edmonton.

It is easy to get around Edmonton. I took a brief side trip to Edmonton mall. The mall itself is wearing out. It has lost it's appeal for anyone alone and looking for a shopping experience. It is lost in the eighties.

Wingate is my go-to hotel when I go to Edmonton. Great location on West End, close to shopping, eating, and the Anthony Hendey for getting in and out of town. The staff are nice, the room is always ready when you arrive, the room is comfortable and always cheaper than the adjacent hotels. Included breakfast and the Homefire Grill in the parking lot can't go wrong!
