We were travelling from Jasper to Vancouver, and Avola has very convenient location by the highway. You can get gas and groceries there. We stayed in Avola Mountain Lodge, highly recommend this place.

There's really nothing here.
There's really nothing here. We stayed at the "Avola Mountain Lodge" (really just a motel, but updated) en route from Jasper to Vancouver, which we recommend if the rates are good.
Avoid the General Store, especially if you think you need to use a washroom.
We didn't check out the restaurant but it didn't look very inviting.
Highly recommend the Eleanor lake in Blue River, 30km north, for a refreshing swim. (And yes, they have free, clean washrooms.)
