Best breakfast we had during 15 days in Bhutan. The home-made pastries were just delicious, and the service was excellent. The views on the paddy fields and the Paro dzong from both the bedroom and the dining hall were breath-taking. The background music at breakfast soothing and relaxing. This hotel is a very good, reasonably priced choice if you want to be close to Paro town center and are not interested in one of the many deluxe accommodations scattered around the valley in isolated places.

Our recent stay at Zhiwa Ling was nothing short of extraordinary, not just for the serene beauty and comfort the hotel offers, but more so for the unparalleled compassion and support shown by the staff during a very unexpected and difficult time for our family. Upon arriving in Bhutan, we were captivated by the charm of Paro town and the hotel room and grounds. However, my mother suddenly fell ill, and the response from the Zhiwa Ling team was was nothing short of exceptional and deeply moving. From the moment we sought help, the staff treated us not as guests, but as their own family. They coordinated immediate medical support, ensured our comfort at every step, and went out of their way to check on her throughout each day and night we were there. Their empathy, warmth, and sense of responsibility were truly remarkable. In a foreign country, far from home, it's rare to find such genuine human connection. The entire experience reminded us that hospitality, at its best, is about heart, not just service. To the Zhiwa Ling team—thank you. We will never forget your kindness. You not only made our stay comfortable, you gave us strength when we needed it most. We would like to especially thank Pema who was very kind at reception, Pemba the amazing manager and Sonam our incredible driver. Pemba and Sonam, in particular, stayed with us each step of the way guiding and reassuring us. They became our extended finally. We had the family room which is a huge cottage with two rooms and Bathrooms.. it's great for 3-5 adults.and possibly the only one available in this area. The resort is beautiful and lined with apple trees that were packed with fresh apples. The river flows on one side (down below since the resort in on a hill) and there is a great view of Paro town, the football grounds and Paro Dzong. Since we left for the Trek early, we got packed breakfast, which was decent (boiled egg, sandwiches, juice, apple). The staff is really sweet and helpful and did everything possible to make our stay comfort. They booked us the taxi and guide as needed. The hotel is really sustainable, with glass bottles, soap dispensers (and optional soap bars, if you need just ask), rubber slippers, a stand fan, a chargeable emergency lamp, umbrellas, brown paper bags for food packaging, etc..and the construction is fabulous..I have never seen such wonderful wood even in Europe.

Solid 3 star hotel near the Tiger's Nest, located about 10 minutes drive from Paro town. Staff itself really make the place, welcoming me, helping me with all my specific and whimsical needs (e.g. mailing postcards, serving drinks late at night, finding power adapters, etc). There is a restaurant and a coffee shop located on premises, which is comforting and convenient. The rooms are normal but comfortable, neither luxurious nor basic. Price is average, mid-range as well.

We stayed here the last night of our brief visit in Bhutan in order to be somewhat close to the airport before a very early flight. While at first it may appear a little outside of the city due to being higher up, there is walkable shortcut down to the center. Taxis are plentiful and very affordable. As a landmark you can say in the vicinity of the hospital. You have a vast view of the valley and Rinpung Dzong. We felt very well received by the young and polite team. This was the only room in Bhutan which was warmed up prior to our arrival. Drinking water was plentifully provided. The beds were very comfortable and there is a serene glass-enclosed balcony to take in the view or meditate. Throughout the property there were nods to serenity like a meditation area or a library overlooking the valley. The food is fantastic, very fresh and to a large extend home-grown. Loved the spinach and mushrooms. Though it may not be an obvious choice due to the location being a little out of the center, I highly recommend Dzi Pema for the kind and sincere hospitality.
