Very good locaction, is one place inside dow town, whit this site location near food stores, pharmacys, and shoping. At night was very calm and silent. The reception staff was very polite and fun. The breakfast was so good, with much fruits, cofee, milk, cheese, cakes, juices and especially atention by kitchen staff.

SJdR looks amazing on internet pictures, but the city is poorly maintained and the cafes, bars and restaurants are very expensive by Brazilian standards. There are many aggressive beggars, so be mindful of where your park you car.

A very beautiful historic city, ideal for those who appreciate history, with generally very welcoming people. It's worth visiting the churches, taking a ride on the steam train, exploring the historic center and the Municipal Market.

I really like historical cities, and São João del Rei is one...

I really like historical cities, and São João del Rei is one of them. I've returned to this place several times, and I intend to visit it again. I enjoy walking through the streets, admiring the architecture and old churches. The city is full of shops with various designer brands. The local products and crafts are excellent. The cheeses are of great quality.

Beautiful churches and museums, like the railway bell tower...

Beautiful churches and museums, like the railway bell tower and the FEB museum, are very interesting. The steam train ride is very beautiful, however, there needs to be better organization in the ticket purchasing process. The ticket kiosks are separate, leaving one for those buying a few tickets and another for those buying a larger number, plus there's no priority line.

São João de Rei is a good city for walking.

São João de Rei is a good city for walking. Traffic is good, except during rush hour and rush hour, when it gets quite congested. All churches charge an entrance fee (except during Mass times), and the city is close to Tiradentes (10 to 15 km by car, depending on the route), which is smaller but much more expensive than São João.

A welcoming city.

A welcoming city. Historic churches, but few options for eating at night. It's more worthwhile to go to Tiradentes, however, the cost-benefit of staying there to enjoy Tiradentes during the day and night is well worth it, as the cities are very close.

This is a truly Buena Vibra hostel! Gabi, the host, is a traveler so she knows what a traveler needs. She made up a cozy, comfy and full-of-love place. Far from the crowd, in a safe and nice street, surrounded by vegetation, the hostel has a big garden, a coworking, two well equipped kitchen and several dorms and toilets. The breakfast was good and there is also a very pretty brechó! It was very quite but still a great place to make friends with other guests and volounteers. Muito obrigada por tudo, adoreu o hostal e Sao Joao!

It’s a really nice hostel, with beautiful outdoor space and a pool. It’s perfectly located in the old part of town in possibly the prettiest street in Sao Joao! It’s very nicely renovated, beds were super comfortable and you could actually sit on a bottom bunkbed! Dorm where I stayed was very spacious as well. Breakfast was AMAZING! Such a big selection! And the Volunteers were the nicest people ever! Highly recommended!!!

The buffet breakfast was excellent with a good choice of food, plus coffee fruit juice and yoghurt to drink. There was a balcony outside the rooms with an excellent view of the countryside. The room was large and included a basic kitchen area with microwave oven. Also a large fridge, bigger than in any hotel room I have previously used, and it looked new. The TV had regular channels and streaming services.
