The decoration of the property, its own charm of an old farm turned into a hotel, the surroundings and the same property are incredibly beautiful. The Staff of the hotel is very very kind and helpful, we talked with the Chef and Manager of the hotel for a couple of hours, we also had a tour around where he explained us a bit of the story of the hotel. I highly recommend to have dinner in the hotel, the food was a masterpiece, I had an amazing juicy steak with Vegetables, it was perfectly cooked, and I would say, it was one of the best steaks I've had. The breakfast on the next day was also fantastic, with real bread that you can tell it is not your average industrial made bread It really gives you the feeling of a family run hotel and not "just a hotel" Definitely I'll look for another excuse to stay here.

We had a stunning room with a great terrace overlooking the lake. The spa is lovely though the sauna was out of order during our visit, however we were gifted with one free access to the spa once I had raised this point upon checking out, which we appreciated. The decoration in the hotel is also lovely, and the food in the restaurant was really tasty.

All attractions are close by, including hiking trails, the bakery, supermarkets, and towns, etc. We ate at home. The access roads were really bad. The price is on the high side. Unfortunately, we are tied to the school holidays, and the landlords take full advantage of that. The service was otherwise excellent.

The walks were beautiful but challenging, especially the return trip from the castle. There's a butcher and baker nearby, department stores a bit further away, and plenty of dining options in the area. The roads were in need of some upgrading. The house had all the comforts, but limited kitchenware.

When you visit Ovifat, don't miss a visit to the PEAK Beer...

When you visit Ovifat, don't miss a visit to the PEAK Beer brewery after a lovely walk in the High Fens National Park. A trip to Monschau is also recommended. It's a typical German village with half-timbered houses and charming terraces, just across the Belgian/German border.

The presence of a ski slope is definitely a plus.

The presence of a ski slope is definitely a plus. It's a shame everything was closed due to COVID restrictions. It's a wonderful base for hiking and mountain biking. The downside is that there are few, if any, restaurants or shops.
