Everything was good! From the service to the restaurant Pepina. The manager there is very accommodating to get us a table at the last minute. The head chef Anga treated us to local scallops specially prepared with bread crumbs and local citrus sauce.

FAQs about hotels in Hobart

Historic City Comes of Age

Historic Hobart, with its convict past, was often referred to as Australia’s neglected backwater. How times have changed as its temperate climate, quiet lifestyle and fabulous food and markets make it a revitalising tourist destination along the Derwent River in Tasmania.

The city’s significant maritime history begins at Constitution Dock, situated along the waterfront and facing the beautiful harbour. Nearby Battery Point and affluent Sandy Bay feature Georgian and Victorian architecture and the first settler’s cottages in Australia’s 2nd oldest city.

Escape to a memorable view of Hobart town from the snow-covered Mount Wellington or get close up and personal in the city’s quaint streets. Hobart comes alive during the colourful Salamanca Market, held every Saturday morning, where you can bag a bargain or sample mouth-watering produce such as local wines and cheeses.

Cascade Brewery and Cadbury’s Chocolates have tours of these Tasmanian icons or visit Wrest Point Casino, a popular event and entertainment centre.

The annual Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race in December and Tulip Festival in the Royal Botanical Gardens swells the population in this small capital city. Make sure you check Booking.com ahead of time for your colonial cottage, cosy B&B or waterfront apartment.

Fantastic city, the history explains a lot about Australia,...

Fantastic city, the history explains a lot about Australia, Must see is the Cascade Womans factory and do the guided tour, Port Arthur spend the day, and if you get the chance to go to the westside, do the Gordon river cruise, these three recommendations confirm each other. The hop on hop off bus is also a must do. I recommend the Woolshed, the Hill House accommodation, Rubys Farm house to stay, they were all clean and comfortable, we hired a car to get around, the city itself is beautiful and lots happening. People are freindly, Fico restaurant great service, Mona was spectacular.

Lovely city, relaxed and friendly people, we will definitely come back again hopefully soon. We went to Mount Wellington, Tasmanian Chocolate Foundry, Port Arthur Lavender, Mona museum and would happily recommend all of them (we could not do all we had planned but that's a good excuse to come back!). One thing though, it is colder than up North in the country so prepare some jumpers and/or cardigans.

Loved MONA, Salamander markets. Hobart is a great gateway to other areas of interest for exploring the southern natural areas and short distances to other towns for driving. Quick to airport but terrible traffic in the city at peak time.

I love Hobart I grew up in Hobart but hadn’t been back for 21 years. It’s such a pretty city with great. Character and vibe, plenty to see and do. Not as busy as other cities in Australia and people aren’t glued to their mobile phones but actually talk to each other which is lovely to see. A friendly city and heaps of great choices and places to eat and shopping very good with plenty of variety. 😊

Very close to waterfront, had a booking with kunanyi Explorer and to our suprised just about 30 steps from the apartment and few mins from everything else( salamanca, franko, all waterfront restaurants). Laundry, dryer, detergent and microwave is really much appreciated ( it's surprising how many hotel without microwave in hobart). Bed very comfy Dropped the bag before the tour before checking in and then they called us for early check in which is nice from the lady at the reception

Unbeatable location. Loved being in the Salamanca area with all the bars and restaurants. Easily accessible to different parts of Hobart. The room was surprisingly soundproof and very comfortable. The bed and pillows were a luxury. Loved the deep soak bath and heated floors. The hotel staff were friendly and welcoming and allowed us to store bags on early arrival and late departure for the airport. Would not hesitate to come back and stay here again.

The staff were welcoming and friendly. Having a restaurant on site was great and the rooms had everything you would need for a comfortable stay. The units are actually outside of the hotel so away from any noise that might be made by patrons. The location is on the outskirts of hobart but not too far from the airport
