A special place, a fantastic getaway. Secluded, exclusive, peaceful. The kind of place you want to just chill out in your room or the lounges all day long with a good read and a bottle of your favourite tipple. But the beautiful outdoor beckons. We saw wombats wandering the grounds daily. Room, bed, and shower were all comfortable. The heated floor in the washroom felt like a luxury esp on cold mornings. The views of the lake and the snow capped mountains at dusks and dawns were always captivating. Breakfasts were more than adequate (loved the DIY hard boiled eggs) with both cold and hot choices. The cheeses, cold cuts and fresh baked breads provided for lunch was just the right option for room/lounge chilling and trekking. The 3 course dinners were fine dining set ups that allowed for conversations with adjacent guests. No attempts to rush you out by XXpm so it was possible to enjoy a slow meal and enjoy the company of fellow travellers while being well looked after by well trained staff. Would I stay here again if I pass this way? ... Yes.

Breakfast on 1st day was buffet-style. It was very limited by any standards. Very disappointing

Fantastic location, fairly remote, with wildlife all around. Very well equipped. Everything you could need. I loved watching the Echidna from the veranda.

It's where the Derwent River starts.

It's where the Derwent River starts. See Lake St Claire and The Wall. Great stopover for a rest. We bought our own food to cook but the Roadhouse can cater if they know by 4.30pm. They also have wine and beer if you need. So glad we stayed over.

The room was very clean, basic but comfortable with a small outdoor table and chairs to enjoy a cuppa and watch the other travellers go by. A slightly warmer welcome would have been appreciated after a long drive but I guess Covid has made owners a little jaded..understandably I guess.

We loved our little cottage. It was very well equipped with appliances, including a washer & dryer. It was spotlessly clean, and our bed was comfy bed as were the pillows. We had dinner down at the Derwent Bridge Hotel. Unfortunately, it's not within walking distance. But, for breakfast the next day, we went to the Hungry Wombat, which is right next door & serve a good breakfast.

Self contained cabin just off the highway. Very quiet. Close to Lake St Clair and Derwent Bridge Hotel for fireside drinks and dinner Warm and cozy with the basics. We bought our lunch and breakfast supplies as it is remote. .

Good location for visiting Lake St Clair. Well equipped kitchen with small milk provided. We ate at the hotel down the road and walked there both nights. Parking right outside the cabin. Manager very friendly and helpful.
