The accommodation is situated within the hosts’ own home and purpose-built as a self-contained unit (bedroom, bathroom and living room) adjacent to their own living. The unit is extremely comfortable and beautifully clean and with a very comfortable bed. The kitchenette was filled with delicious treats; the breakfast included home-made jams and the best stewed fruits we’ve ever tasted! The bathroom was equipped with extremely generous toiletries. Our hosts have two wonderful cats - Chiffon and Taffeta - who were full of personality and were the icing on the cake. The home has a rural setting but is two minutes drive from Trentham town. The unit is comprehensively equipped for guests. Our hosts Mike and Sylvia, have a long hospitality background and had thought of everything - we lacked for nothing. Mike and Sylvia are two of the most friendly and engaging people we have met - and we have travelled a lot.

This was a beautiful home with stunning floor to ceiling windows and lovely comfortable furnishings, including some amazing vintage pieces! Everything you could possibly want was provided, including some welcome “little extras” like snacks, golf clubs at the front door, a fire pit & children’s sports equipment in the rear garden.

The ridge was so cozy and so close to everywhere we wanted to visit! The bed and pillows was so comfy and the heating worked great in spring! There was fire wood and a fan available and the host was helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend going in spring as it’s not too hot/cold and keep in mind it’s a compost toilet lol :)

Blackwood is a serene spot.

Blackwood is a serene spot. The village has 2 great coffee shops, a pub, a hat shop and a few other take-away shops that weren't open when we were in the village. Blackwood has a lot to offer; local national parks, a mineral spring, hikes and walks and its only 15 minutes to Trentham which is a bigger village with a few more shops, an IGA and places to eat and of course Trentham Falls. It's also close to Daylesford and Hanging Rock and about 40 minutes from Ballarat. We found Blackwood to be a beautiful and serene location with an abundance of bird life and animals in their natural habitat.
