Great facilities, two year old hotel, and walking distance from the main restaurant and bar streets. Nice rooftop pool, sitting area, bar and restaurant. Breakfast had a decent selection for a western traveller. The front desk was helpful with arrangements for visiting Iguazu falls, restaurants and taxis.

The staff was really nice and helpfull for everything. You can even use the facilities (pool, bathroom, shower...) after check out. It was tidy and clean. The rooms are very spacious.

Loved this hotel. Our friends from Buenos Aires described it as having a "jungle" vibe, which it did...and we loved it! It felt very much in the natural setting of Iguazu. We liked that it was relatively close to the airport, as well as other attractions in the area. The front desk was professional, the common areas and restaurants were beautiful. We saw a monkey in the morning! The dining options were great! Would definitely return. Our friends had a room with a hot tub on the deck; we had a triple in the main complex that had a huge soaking tub and a separate shower. Lots of room in the bathroom and the sleeping area.

Picturesque Town on Iguazú Falls' Doorstep

Located 18 km from the Iguazú Falls UNESCO World Heritage Site, Puerto Iguazú is an Argentinean town situated near the Brazilian border, in the Province of Misiones. Its compact city centre is packed with restaurants, cafés and shops, while the area is well-known for its red soil and lush vegetation.

The stunning falls comprise 275 individual falls spread over 3 km between Argentina and Brazil. They have a maximum height of 80 metres and a water flow that can be three times superior to that of the Niagara Falls.

The Guaraní natives named the falls ‘iguazú’, meaning ‘big water’. The national park was founded in 1907, and some of the best hotels in Puerto Iguazú are located in the road linking the city centre to the falls. Some hotels on the Argentinean side of the waterfalls offer beautiful views.

The local bus station offers links to several long-distance destinations, including Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires. The city is served by Cataratas del Iguazú International Airport, while the Brazilian Foz do Iguaçu International Airport is 16 km away.

I didn’t like the fact that to purchase the tickets for “La...

I didn’t like the fact that to purchase the tickets for “La Gran Aventura” they didn’t accept pay with Mercado Pago, they didn’t have QR or transfer options which was very inconvenient and weird since this is the main method of payment in the whole country. Even in the smallest stores and kiosks they have QR or transfer option to pay with pesos. I ended up paying extra because I had to use my debit card and I got international charges. Also I had to call my bank to reactivate my card because the cashier passed my card twice and it got blocked.

The falls are magnificent.

The falls are magnificent. However, the National Park is ridiculously overcrowded and does not have the infrastructure to support the numbers. Very long queues for toilets, long waits for the train, and overcrowded walkways/boardwalks and viewing platforms. We were told sometimes there are double the crowd numbers we experienced - that would be hell! We met a number of people, who like us, found the ticket buying platform did not work, and then had to purchase at the gate.

This town exists solely for tourism, and while the main attraction is incredible, the lack of infrastructure and the way the park is set up is kind of shocking for a town/attraction that relies so much on tourism. Perhaps it is because I did everything on my own, and so I had to try and figure out everything on my own, and without sufficient Spanish speaking skills, but I was a bit confused as to how things worked at the park itself, along with the lack of information about how the bus works to get to the park if you're not staying in the center of town (where it stops, etc.). Additionally, if you're not taking the bus, you're at the whim of cab drivers who aren't the best at communicating or answering questions, and who may rip you off. All in all, the attraction of Iguazu Falls is great, but there is a lot that can potentially stress you out surrounding it, unless you want to splurge and get the expensive tours, car rental or private driver, which to me, aren't worth it.

Smaller town about 30 minutes from the Argentinian side of the falls. There are a few great restaurants scattered among some pretty rough buildings. Not a whole lot to do there other than eat and drink (and duty free shop and gamble at the casino).

It was a short trip to see the Iguazu Falls and had one day only to see the falls from both the Brazilian and Argentinian sides which were both incredible. We hired a taxi for the day for 4 of us which made travelling across the border effortless and make the best use of our time for a cost of $100.

We had 4 full days.

We had 4 full days. - Day 1 was raining so we went to the shopping mall on the Brazilian side - Day 2 + 3 were at the waterfalls on the Argentine side. - Day 4 we went to the waterfalls on the Brazilian side. We used a taxi driver to get around and we did not go into the city at all.

The hostel is five minutes by walking away from the Bus Terminal that will take you to and from the airport, Brasil and the waterfalls. The hostel is perfectly clean and the staff was really nice and helped me with my bookings. When there was an issue with a booking they even sent the money I paid them to my next hostel. For this price it is certainly the best option in Puerto Iguazú! 10/10

Victor and his wife are just the loveliest and kindest people. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they gave us so much useful information and assistance. The apartment is perfectly spacious and comfortable with an excellent shower. You are about 5 minutes walk from the bus stop that takes you to either set of falls and about 20 minutes from the centre of Puerto Iguazú.

Ariel, the host, is a gentleman and speaks Portuguese, English and obviously Spanish. The place is in a decent location, half an hour walk from the hub of Puerto Iguazu. There’s a supermarket nearby. Very comfortable bed. Clean with good kitchen facilities. Great for the price.

Selvaje Lodge was a beautiful hotel, room was large and comfortable and the pool atmospheric with the jungle behind. There aren't really restaurant options nearby without a taxi, but the hotel had numerous menu options and the food was extremely good.
