The food in the restaurant was surprisingly good and cheap. Ladies were kind and welcoming. The view outside the room is stunning. I enjoyed just sat there drinking Mate and doing nothing.

Friendly staff, very clean and comfortable rooms with an additional electric heater for the cold evenings. Private bathroom has a separate shower area and the hot water is great. The on site restaurant is useful, there are a selection of games and pool table to use. A gorgeous cat will keep you company. Great value.

Owner was very nice and hospitable. The room was large and had a nice bathroom. Parking is available. Breakfast provided and hostess graciously made hot chocolate since we don't drink coffee.

This pueblo is about as far as a traveller can get off the beaten track .. the drive getting there ( and back to the highway ) is exceptional .. possibly the best road trip of my life .. don’t go there expecting good restaurants and a vibrant night life .. it’s a remote town at the end of a 50 kilometre gravel road ..

If you want to go hiking from a very basic town then it’s great. I guess. But if you want anything else out of the town forget it. Zero. 58 km of dirt road each direction is not remotely worth the view. There are amazing views all over Argentina, if the town even had one interesting aspect fine but it doesn’t. Most people we saw there were sitting waiting for the next bus out. Nothing to do if you don’t hike. Sorry IRUYA, the rest of Argentina is amazing, you’re very ordinary by comparison.

The road to Iruya is beautiful and well worth it.

The road to Iruya is beautiful and well worth it. If you're easily scared, don't do it. But if you're a normal person, go ahead and relax; the road is super easy and doesn't require a 4x4 or exceptional driving skills. There isn't much to do in the town itself, as its charm lies in simply being there.

I had high expectations because of everything I'd seen on social media. While it's picturesque, it doesn't have anything that sets it apart from other towns in the Quebrada. The road to Iruya is beautiful. As a base for trekking, I think it's a very good option.

A dreamy village perched on the mountainside, beautiful to stroll through its little streets, delicious food, the prices aren't outrageous and everything is incredibly tasty. I would return without hesitation; I left this morning and I already want to go back! The trip to Iruya is also something wonderful!

The road to Iruya is a beautiful adventure; it's not too dangerous except when you come face-to-face with a reckless bus driver on a narrow stretch. Keep in mind that you're arriving in a poor town, one that's growing without any planning and will soon lose its charm. It's already clearly neglected by the authorities.

A peaceful place to unwind.

A peaceful place to unwind. The village is small but nestled in stunning surroundings. I wish I'd had more time to explore the area; there are other charming villages nearby worth visiting.

The host (Dora Gonzales) was so so lovely! She was super helpful with answering all questions and giving suggestions for what to do in Iruya and neighbouring towns. It was an incredibly enjoyable stay in a lovely village. The hostel is very cute, with clean rooms and wonderful views of the mountain. I highly recommend this accommodation to anyone visiting Iruya!

It had great views over Iruya, situated right at the top. This did mean walking up and down pretty hilly terrain to the restaurants nearere to the centre if you did not drive. Staff did try to be helpful despite not speaking English.
