Cheap hotels in Martim Branco

The drive to Martim Branco is scenic and hilly, you really get the feeling of being off the beaten track. As you drive into the village, it’s like taking a step back in time – a true rural experience. The village is very secluded and isolated and there are a series of walks in and around the accommodation with a river running through the base of the village. Xisto also provides a very unexpected and wonderful swimming pool!! It was hard to believe this facility had been created in the surrounds when you first arrive. We made a call and in no time, we were being shown into our unit. From the outside, you would never expect such an interior – it provided all the comforts you could ever need, very well executed and considerate of the environment it was in. There is no taverna in the village but Gustavo provides a shared area by his wood fired bread oven where you can light a fire and cook outside. We had a kitchen as well, sadly, we hadn’t stopped en-route to purchase some food for supper!! We’d certainly recommend making sure you bring something to eat with you. We did have some wine and snacks, so surviving until Gustavo’s breakfast was never going to be a big challenge. Gustavo was such a wonderful host at breakfast. We get the impression he is very well accomplished in and around the kitchen – we were offered home made bread, jams and preserves. It also appears Gustavo tries to keep it local and fresh which we loved. We were sad, we only had the 1 x night and too many other spots to get to during our trip. It would be nice to arrive with more provisions, take some of the forest walks and become more in touch with the serenity on offer.

We had a wonderful stay, nestled in peaceful surroundings, ideal for nature and animals lovers, the perfect escape. The room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, with everything we needed for a relaxing stay. Helena is lovely and very friendly. The location is only 7 min drive from Castelo Branco. I’ll definitely return!

The location was great and the check in was very easy.

The accommodation is in a great location, spotlessly clean and is a great sized room with a king size bed and large ensuite shower room and small but private balcony and is on the ground floor with only five steps to get to the room which was great as my husband has recently suffered a stroke and is partially paralysed. The hosts are fantastic and extremely helpful. They are local and very easy to contact if necessary. The accommodation is very safe with an outer security door plus a further 3 internal security doors to get to your room. Felt very safe and using keypad rather than keys was great.

Very nice place with nice hosts. Very quite and it has a pool + hot tub as well as an outdoor gym. If you love nature and the feeling of community you will probably like it. It has a small breakfast but there is always someone ready to help you out if you need something else. If you enjoy a place that feels like a community with a lot of events (like yoga classes or even late-night fire pits) its the right place.

Overall our stay was very pleasant, very clean while the owner went out of her way to accommodate our needs.

The owner was extremely friendly and receiving, our room was extremely clean with all new furniture and very efficient aircon. We also enjoyed the pool which was super refreshing after very warm day, I would not hesitate to return to this accommodation it is highly recommended when in CasteloBranco
