Very friendly staff to english speakers. We were greeted by two lovely women who were very helpful and even showed us a restaurant she liked for us to eat dinner at. The room was very spacious and we wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you very much!

The host was smiley and kind and has the cutest dogs!! Cute breakfast, good facilities including a washing machine. Grear location - close to aso, convinience stores, cafe's, but still quiet and peaceful and right next to the river.

The owners are such a nice couple, very kind. We really enjoyed our days at hostel+cafe. The place is beautiful, very clean and confortable. The food was very tasty, Japanese traditional breakfast. We strongly recommend it.

Our stay at this incredible Japanese house was nothing short of a dream. This beautifully renovated traditional home, built by the owner's ancestors probably 150 years ago and renovated thoughtfully and lovingly by the owner recently. It offers lovely gardens and breathtaking views of Mount Aso and is meticulously maintained to the highest standards. Each room exudes the charm and character of a traditional Japanese palace, while also providing all modern amenities.The onsen is an indulgent treat, and the professional kitchen, sound and home cinema systems, barbecue house, and karaoke house added to the exceptional experience. We opted for the barbecue on two of our three nights, and the food was world-class, prepared with love and care by the owner, his wife, and the property manager.We felt like we were in a dream and wished we could have stayed much longer. Very spacious penthouse apartment that has access to rooftop terrace with street and Mt Aso view. We enjoyed going up the rooftop terrace to just chill, read a book, have a drink and enjoy the Kumamoto weather. Deck chairs, chairs and table provided too. Heating, ventilation and lighting is sufficient for comfort in all seasons. The place is tastefully decorated and super well equipped kitchen like a good quality home. The bar counter with bar stools and large dining table are great for hosting a get together. There are board games, big TV, a set of golf clubs and putting mat for use. Many cans of beer were provided in the fridge for our consumption. Bathroom is big and the bathtub fitted 2 persons very comfortably. We had a very enjoyable and comfortable stay. Host was helpful and precise with instructions that made check-in very smooth. Definitely a Value-for-money place which we will return to!

There is husband and wife managing the property and they were very kind to me. The whole hostel is built in samurai style which I found really cool and interesting. It is quite far from the city centre but they borrowed me a bike which i could use anytime.
