Balik Pulau isn't the heart of Penang tourism but if one is looking for an off-the-beaten track experience in Penang, then this is it. Super rustic, it is a wonderful place to hike, bike and explore the plantations and the hills. Located in the heart of Balik Pulau, de Village is a no-frills homestay that meets the needs of an adventurer. With two food courts right outside and an host of other eateries along the main road, this is a good jumping point to explore the area. A 24 hour self-service laundromat across the main road makes it convenient for those travelling light. A convenience store next to the homestay is great if you need to resupply.

John was a wonderful host! He received us two hours early and upon departure he left us 1 hour extra. The cabin is equipped with everything a tourist needs! Very white and quality linen. So are the towels. From the terrace, the landscape is gorgeous! I recommend with all confidence!
