Bundala Bird Sanctuary is 42 km from the accommodation, while Situlpawwa is 50 km away. Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport is 21 km from the property, and the property offers a paid airport shuttle service. My favourite days in Sri Lanka. Peace, nature and a generous and warm host. The safari Prasad arranged was perfect - lots of elephants, a beautiful lotus lake, black- faced monkeys, lots of birds and only 3 other jeeps in the 4.5 hours. The rooms are clean, with a hammock next to a little stream, iguanas, peacocks, monkeys and eagles in the garden. Prasad's mum's coconut rotis are the best I had in my 3 weeks and the room and safari were great value. Thanamalwila has few tourists so unspoilt and the family will help with everything from bus bookings, travel advice to taking me to see a friends farm to see crops growing. The buses from Ella and Galle stop directly outside the homestay so it's really easy to get to. The safari is in Blocks 5 and 6 of Yala. If you want a peaceful safari then I highly recommend Prasad's place.

The food provided at the lodge was exceptional and the staff were very friendly. We chose to stay here the night before our safari in Yala and it ended up being the perfect choice! The staff also helped us to organise the safari which was easy & seamless.

Guests can relax in the garden at the property. Wadula Safari was amazing. We were greeted by the friendliest staff, taken for a walk around the jungle (where we saw monkeys, all kinds of birds, and lizards), and then served a delicious dinner. The room is spacious, clean and comfortable with amenities like coffee, tea, powerful AC and a modern bathroom. They also arranged a wonderful safari with a guide, and helped us speak with and find our taxi driver.

Udawalawe National Park is 37 km from Tranquil Wild, while Tissa Wewa is 25 km from the property. The food was also excellent.. owner Anne was very sweet and caring. This facility is near to block 6 of the national park which has a lot of elephants and other animals and birds.. although block 1 is famous for leapord but sightings are difficult and it's dense forest so we can't see a lot of animals.. we would have loved to spend a few more days just relaxing in this property if we didn't have other plans. Amazing views of the lake and peacocks and monkeys roaming in the hotel gardens.. amazing.

The chalets are built on stilts 5 feet above the ground. Kele Yala provides all rooms with a balcony, and all rooms include a private bathroom with a shower and a hairdryer. Rooms at the accommodation also feature air conditioning and a desk. The property offers a view of the surrounding wilderness. The staff were amazing and met all of our needs. They were very friendly and knowledgable about the area. The food was outstanding and gave us a choice each day on what we would like. It was very refreshing to not have wifi and be able to unwind and take in the amazing scenior and be able to listen to the nature. The room was so spacious and decorated beautifully. Jerome organised our private safari which was great as we had nothing to do only turn up at the time organised. We couldnt have asked for any more. 5 star

Owner had even helped us arrange a safari for a reasonable price.

Situated 14 km from Tissa Wewa, Yala Jungle Haven features accommodation with a garden, a terrace and a 24-hour front desk for your convenience. The lodge features both WiFi and private parking free of charge. We wanted to stay close to the park with the feeling of being inside it and being close to nature and the animals, and Yala Jungle Haven delivered on all fronts! You’re in the middle of nature, so don’t be spooked when a salamander or lizard walks around the room and leaves some droppings or tiny frogs enter and jump around. They are harmless and make it the full experience. There’s also a small crocodile in the pond next to the room and in the morning we had a water buffalo in it and a peacock on top of the tree. You won’t have aircon or hot water as there’s only one generator but there’s a fan and a mosquito net if you need to open the windows and it’s hot enough to enjoy the colder shower. The owners, Tushara and his parents, are amazing and do everything they can to make you feel at home. The food is freshly prepared and delicious, definitely the bbq chicken (a bit pricey compared to other areas but makes sense as shops are not close and everything is made from scratch). You eat dinner on the rock where you can look at the stars by the fire and a bit higher up you can go watch the sunrise/sunset. Sometimes an animal that can walk under the fence for elephants (monkeys, wild boar, leopard, …) walks by. We saw the first two. Breakfast in the hut is also amazing as a giant squirrel joins you to ask for a banana. Tushara knows a lot about the environment and animals as he has been a guide for over 25 years, so you can ask him anything. We did the full day safari in Yala National Park with them which was also a great experience. We got to see 2 leopards, 40 elephants, 3 crocodiles, many antilopes, spotted deers, birds, water buffaloes, mongoose, monitor lizards, … Unfortunately Tushara couldn’t come with us because the generator broke and he had to stay to fix it, so his cousin came with us. Although he was a man of little (English) words, he made sure we saw a lot of animals and tried to explain what he could.
