The building itself has a special charm — full of character, clean, and with that unmistakable Varanasi atmosphere that’s hard to find anywhere else. It’s the kind of place where you feel the history in the walls, yet the comfort is very real. One of the highlights of my stay was the incredible dog who lives here. Friendly, gentle and full of personality, he greeted me every time I walked in, as if he’d decided I was family. He added so much warmth to the experience that I can’t imagine the lodge without him. The guesthouse is run by two wonderful sisters whose hospitality truly stands out. They’re kind, open-minded and genuinely fun to be around. We had many great conversations about life, the city and everything in between. Their help and friendliness made my time in Varanasi even more meaningful, and I’m sincerely grateful for that. What makes Shiva Lodge special is the balance it offers. Step outside and you’re immediately immersed in the intensity, devotion and energy of Varanasi. Step back inside and you’re in a peaceful, welcoming sanctuary where you can breathe, relax and recharge. If you want a place that lets you truly experience the spirit of this sacred city while feeling cared for and comfortable, Shiva Lodge is a wonderful choice. I fully recommend staying here.
