Great little tiny house with a double bed and large comfy bunk bed. Clean and charming interior. There's also a large wooden deck outside with tables and chairs which was lovely to spend time on in the late sunny evenings. A Lovely sheepdog was also running around outside on the very quaint farm grounds. Peter was extremely kind and helpful, always there if you need him. He's very funny and has a good, positive energy. The owner was very amenable, the property was in a rural area so nice and peaceful. Trim and Navan are only a short drive away. The property was well equipped with everything laid on for comfort and the kitchen was well equipped. It was warm and comfortable and the heating was very easy to adjust. All information was provided to make the stay very enjoyable.

Thistledown Lodge is truly well located on the South-Eastern coast of Ireland in close proximity to the world's oldest operating & functional lighthouse (Hook Lighthouse) which makes it an ideal location to spend a couple of nights or a week exploring surroundings. The 'Passage East' car ferry service from Waterford cuts down on journey time too and makes for a little sight-seeing trip in itself. Having stayed at many 5-star properties around the world in Dubai, Singapore, Thailand, New York - our room at Thistledown Lodge was furnished to exceptional satisfaction and did not disappoint one bit. We'd upgraded to the bigger room with a bath and shower so we had plenty of space even if we stayed in one of the evenings whilst it rained. Being vegetarian guests with special dietary requirements, we were well taken care of by the hosts with wholemeal toasts, fresh orange juice, potato waffles, vegan sausages, vegan black pudding, baked beans and mushrooms. Everything at this property including their breakfast was served at an exceptional standard and you can see the attention to detail with the amenities on offer like branded cutlery, plating methods, quality of food produce etc.

A top example of Irish hospitality: one arrives as a customer and leaves as a friend. We were in Newbridge to attend a concert in town, we didn’t just get hints for places to eat but even a lift to town, saving the expense of a taxi. Any request we had was solved and in the morning, no trouble was too much for breakfast and check-out. We had a lovely, quite room with all facilities.
