Cabins in Timbavati Game Reserve

Had an amazing stay at Motswari. Our room was clean and cozy, everyone super helpful and kind and food was great. The pool had a nice view over a creek where animals come to drink. The game drives were amazing, we did 6 and managed to see the big 5 after 4 game drives. Nice detail is that you get assigned to the same team (guide + tracker) every game drive, so you get to know them better and they know exactly which animals you've already seen and still want to see. We were with Rudolf and Lot, both very good at their jobs and nice/fun guys to be around. The reserve was managed very well, there were never more than 2 cars around an animal sighting which made it feel more special and less intrusive to the animals than in other parts of Kruger. Price was quite steep for us, but after all worth the experience. Would come back.

The experience at Thabamati exceeded all of our expectations. We kicked off our honeymoon in SA with a 4 night safari and we must say the bar was set very high! The food was excellent, the accommodations were spotless and the staff were so attentive and welcoming. The lodge is bang in the middle of it all with resident hippos just meters away from your tent. Mich and Charlie pour their heart and soul into curating a slice of paradise in the wild for their guests and the results speak for themselves. The safari itself was nothing short of breathtaking. We saw the big 5 and more up close with detailed explanation and interesting tid bits of information constantly flowing. The guide and Oscar the tracker are super informative, knowledgeable and professional. We would definitely recommend it for a personal and high end safari experience!

This is near perfection. We enjoyed our stay from beginning to the end. I am not use to give a 10 but they totally deserved it. Our guide Landon and our tracker Jacky both with a massive experience definitely went above and beyond to let us have a wonderful game experience. The lodge staff were exceptional, always there to help us or offer us anything. Our suite was stunning (maybe even too big for us two).

We stayed 3 nights at King's Camp out of a total of 11 nights in South Africa and this was by far the best part of our entire trip. The place is immaculate - very large and comfortable rooms, extremely friendly staff and a beautiful location in the TImbavati game reserve. We were taken out for dawn and dusk game drives by our own dedicated ranger Cynet and spotter Sunnyboy, in vehicle we had to ourselves most of the time. All the seats were next to the side (so there were no obstructed views), there were warm blankets in the car for the cold and we stopped for sundowners every evening and watched the stars come out - and what stars - amazing views of the milky way. The game was excellent too - lions including cubs, leopard + kill, and all the rest of the big five (if that's what you're into), hyena and cubs. A big highlight was following a leopard through the bush in the car - simply unforgettable! Plus a multitude of birds from eagles to wax-bills - and our extremely knowledgeable ranger Cynet could identify them all! Our room was enormous and luxurious - private secluded pool and veranda area, carefully designed so that it was not overlooked but looked out into the bush with animals traipsing past! There's also a wonderful hide by the waterhole so you can watch the animals coming down to drink and mud-bathe - including a whole herd of elephants! The staff still have a sense of wonder about the animals they see and are just as excited as the guests. And there are steenboks and kudu who visit the grounds and wander around the rooms - and a lovely night-watchman who escorts you to and from your room after dark. The trouble with the food was that it was too good and too plentiful - hard not to gain weight! Well cooked, well presented and served by lovely, attentive staff. Every other night we had a buffet in the traditional "boma" around a fire with our guide.

Great location for Orpen gate and manyeleti. Great lodge, very comfortable room and the sweetest staff who go above and beyond. Food was great. We would definitely stay here again!

We loved the exciting and comfortable game drives, the sundowners in the bush, the knowledgeable, friendly staff - we loved eating with the staff and other travelers at dinner - all communal areas were spotless and comfortable - staff was always on hand to ask questions or get a drink. The wildlife guides, Connie and Taybon, were just phenomenal, and the food was all delicious and rooms/showers were very comfortable! Location, animals (we saw SO MANY), everything outstanding.

An absolutely stunning lodge — beautifully designed with elegant suites and tasteful African-inspired art throughout. Our game drives with Julian were the highlight: he was incredibly enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and full of fascinating stories about wildlife and South Africa itself. Food and service were truly world-class, with a great selection of wines to choose from.

Fantastic experience! Susanne & Pierre and of course the whole team were great. We felt very welcome and they took care of us very well. Food was great, this applies to breakfast, lunch and dinner. Just wonderful. Great game drives. Guide and tracker were fantastic and showed great lnowledge and passion for nature and animals. We felt safe in their hands. All was very well organised. This was our first safari and it was so special. Would love to go back.
