Our stay at River Lodge was truly magical. From the moment we arrived, until the final goodbye nothing was too much trouble. All the staff were superb, especially our safari guide Kyran. We were treated to some of the best that Kariega has to offer, newly born impalas, very young elephants and white rhinos. The chance to see a trio of young lions hunting zebra, moon-lit giraffes and so many experiences that will stay with us for ever, made our time at the River Lodge the highlight of our garden route adventure.

Experience of a lifetime! Highly recommend - Our guide Matthews was great. He made sure everyone saw the animals they wanted (we saw lions (including cubs), rhino's, hippo's, cheetahs, giraffes, etc. etc.) to and the resort-like set up (all meals included, all game drives included) was incredible.

I had a wonderful stay at this property. The views were absolutely stunning and made the experience even more special. The room was very beautiful, well-kept, and extremely comfortable. Everything. The setting is idyllic and the surroundings are beyond beautiful. It cannot be beaten as a place to unwind. Everything is of excellent quality and the bed is very comfortable. Simphiwe's welcome set the tone for a great few days. The complimentary roosterkoek the first evening was delicious and such a welcoming touch.

The chalet is comfortable, spacious and clean with everything needed for a self catering stay. What made this stay exceptional for us was the incredible hospitality of our hosts. We’d arrived at the lodge on a whim at the last minute and were very ill prepared for our stay but our hosts went above and beyond to make us welcome and comfortable.
