Everything in our stay was perfect. The location of Kandalama lodge is great if you want to visit the Dambulla Cave Temple, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Sigirya and Pidurangala. The lodge is cleverly designed, and well maintained. The garden is a quiet oasis, peaceful and beautiful. We stayed in both the deluxe villa with the private pool and the “regular” rooms. We enjoyed both. The staff made our stay even better. I’ve never seen a manager, cook and helpers so attentive in my life. I rarely rate a stay a 10/10 but they deserve it.

I had an amazing stay! The place has such a peaceful vibe, surrounded by nature. The villa was clean and comfortable, and my favourite feature was the inner courtyard, which made me feel so connected to nature. The tree hut was the perfect nook for reading, and the staff even arranged one of our dinners there. We were also able to experience a well bath - such a one of a kind experience! The staff were incredibly attentive, always making sure everything went smoothly. The food was delicious and full of local flavours. Loved the soothing sound of birds in the morning. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Dambulla who’s looking for a relaxing and authentic Sri Lankan experience.

We stayed 2 nights at the Sigiri art home. It is a lovely place hidden in the jungle. From the comfortable furniture at the patio, you can enjoy the sights of the beautiful garden. When we arrived we were welcomed very kindly. The room and bathroom were clean and the bed was very comfortable. The AC functioned perfectly. In the morning we got a delicious Sri Lankan breakfast. The host and his wife are kindhearted and want to make sure your stay is up to your wishes. When we ran out of gas with our rented tuk tuk, the host even brought us to a gas station to get a bottle of fuel. He was truly a lifesaver.

A tree house has wide open windows which can be kept wide open (mosquito nets over the beds, not many mosquitos though). During the day, it is possible to encounter birds or squirrels; at night, to see fireflies. So, the experience translates into living and sleeping in the canopy. The green forest-like scenery is the greatest but not the only value of the place. Other benefits of the place are: - the location is conveniently very close to the main attractions: Dambulla cave temple, Sigiriya, Minneriya National Park and Pidurangala Rock - the safari jeep hire (with the driver) to conveniently visit the Minneriya park Probably naturally to Sri Lankans, the hosts are very kind and caring and love good humour. Rooms are kept clean and toilets/showers are well maintained. The place offers Sri Lankan food and also the possibility of a cooking demonstration/workshop.

Kamal welcomed us with a big smile even though we arrived late in the evening. The lodge is beautifully decorated and well equipped (mosquito net, A/C, internet, private bathroom, hot water). His breakfast included delicious varieties of Sri Lankan food. We really enjoyed his garden during our mornings. The location is close to Roy's villa if you are looking for activities or meals.
