Units are complete with a private bathroom, while some units at the campground also have a seating area.

Buffet and Italian breakfast options with warm dishes, fresh pastries and pancakes are available. At the campground, the family-friendly restaurant is open for dinner, lunch and high tea and specialises in Dutch cuisine. A phenomenal stay at Atana Bidiyah private camp. Jassim and his crew know hospitality and will make your private desert stay a wonderful experience. You may believe this to be a once in a lifetime experience, but my heart is set on returning to the desert, to Bidiyah, and to Oman. The camp is the furthest one in the desert so we were very far from the town of Bidiyah and it’s light pollution- far enough away to see the beautiful night sky be-speckled with stars. The tent is well designed and faces east to capture the most beautiful sunrise you’ll ever see over the desert sand dunes. No match for what you’ll see on Dune or Tatooine. There were just a few tents at this camp making for a very private setting, with just a few friendly neighbors. The base of the camp is where we had meals. They prepared great dishes (buffet), and had vegetarian options too. After dinner, we sat outside with the few people at the camp and had some tea and conversation. There’s also an indoor swimming pool and sometimes there’s a fire at night. The camp also boasts eco tourism using solar cells and limits the use of plastics. It was very quiet (except for the winds). There’s a fully functioning open air, private, outdoor bathroom attached to our tent where you can shower under the stars. Keep in mind that you’ll be covered in a thin layer of sand and sometimes it gets very windy so some eye protection would’ve come in handy. Lastly, I highly recommend meeting the crew at the meeting point in Bidiyah and having them drive on the desert sand. Jassim picked us up, had great communication, and simply the most hospitable and nicest person you’ll ever meet. He stopped so we could say hi to the camels, take a few photos, and had a few laughs.

A selection of options including local specialities, fresh pastries and pancakes is served for breakfast, and breakfast in the room is also available. As an added convenience, the campground offers packed lunches for guests to bring on excursions and other trips off-property. Such a peaceful time in the desert in a house that feels luxurious, comfortable and very clean. The hosts are incredibly kind and the views are amazing. It’s only 2 houses so if you’re looking for privacy and quiet time it’s much better than big camps!

A recently renovated campground located in Bidiyah, Milky Way Domes features barbecue facilities. Featuring family rooms, this property also provides guests with a picnic area.

Some units include a terrace and/or a balcony with garden views and an outdoor dining area. At the campground, certain units are equipped with a kettle and chocolates or cookies. I loved the big windows and the balcony to sit outside. I got up early to see the stars after the moon set and they were amazing. I could walk out into the sand and see all the tracks left by animals in the night and I watched a dung beetle working on its structure. The morning camel ride was well worth it. The owner served us tea and pointed out constellations at night.

The dome is better in reality than in the photos. You feel comfortable yet you feel far from other people. Air con is working and the view is great.

Located in Wahiba Sand in the North Eastern province, Wahiba Bedouin Rustic Camp offers eco-friendly accommodations. It features private bathrooms, trekking activities and an authentic bedouin experience. Everything it was a great taste of desert life... watching the sunset, night stars and sun rise. Listening to Bedouin stories and the history of the Wahiba sands, told around an open fire. The hospitality is true Omani nothing is too much trouble, 24hr hot and cold drinks, and dates. Breakfast and dinner buffets are traditional and good quality. I will return to enjoy everything that we didn't have the time to do on this trip. Quad bikes etc. Thank you Obaid and family
