One of our favorite campsites on our roadtrip.

Guests at Camp Gecko - PRIVATE NATURE RESERVE; TENTED CAMP AND CAMPSITE will be able to enjoy activities in and around Solitaire, like hiking. The campground also features outdoor fireplace and a picnic area for a day out in the open. Camp Gecko is one of the best memories of our trip! The setting of the large, comfortable tents in the quiet of the desert; the fantastic dinner braai packs with venison steak, salad, home-made bread and even a dessert (as we were not set up for camping, we were given crockery to use for our meal); the swim in the fish pond/pool with mountains in the background; the long shared breakfast table, where we met interesting fellow travellers. The owner Anna and Ernst at reception, who were both lovely, and the beer in the fridge there which was always cold :). We are seriously considering going back there for a longer stay!

Situated just 22 km from Duwisib Castle, At Kronenhof Campsites provides accommodation in Sesriem with access to a garden, a terrace, as well as luggage storage space. This property offers access to a pool table, table tennis and free private parking. The campground features a pool with a view, sauna and full-day security. Accommodation for disabled guests is also available at the property. At Kronenhof is an incredible property, with awesome campsites, the best during our time in Namibia while self driving! Private campsites are clean and wonderfully located, allowing seclusion in a picturesque landscape. The dark sky we saw here was sublime and we enjoyed exploring by 4x4 and seeing giraffes and other animals! An unforgettable experience.

Set in Sesriem, Sossus Oasis Campsite offers accommodation with a year-round outdoor pool. Offering free private parking, the campground is 5 km from Sesriem Canyon. We loved the private amenities including warm showers! Lovely views from the campsite as well.

Namib Desert Campsite is situated in Solitaire. This campground features free private parking and a shared kitchen. Staff on-site can arrange a shuttle service.

Located in Sesriem, 49 km from Sesriem Canyon, Neuhof Portion 2 Campsite features barbecue facilities. There is a private entrance at the campground for the convenience of those who stay. Guests can make use of the outdoor fireplace or the picnic area, or enjoy views of the garden and quiet street. Everything! Location, location, location - it’s not far from Sossusvlei and only a fraction of the cost of staying inside the park. We had a problem with our rental car and they put us up another night, no problem at all. Special mention to the manager, Martiens. He kept us company all day while our car was getting fixed and took us up the hills to view the sunset each night as it sets over the golden grass. Do yourself a favour and stay here, the grounds are beautiful, the staff so helpful and friendly. It was a real highlight in our time in Namibia.
