We didn’t include breakfast in our stay as it was for 6 nights but did buy tickets for one morning and it was delicious for a reasonable price

Amazing Hotel, even though it is a very traditional and old place, the rooms are very modern and renovated with all the amenities one can think of. Onsen is good too, but very hot. The beach is literally just across the road! The rooms all have an ocean view. Staff is extremely friendly and breakfast is also great. Just watch out to book dinner if possible, as there are not many options to eat around town if you don’t want to take the car.

It is Japanese style mixed with some western, there are juices, tea, coffee and desserts. The staff serving breakfast was very polite and neat. What we like best is the private room Japanese dinner which we enjoyed for the 3 nights. Very exclusive and different night, different menu. On our last night our dinner was changed from 2nd floor to the 10 floor which allow us to see the night scene of this little town. I highly recommend this for family or honey moon couple. We booked 3 rooms and requested for our rooms to be next to one another and the hotel helped us with this request. The Onsen in this Ryoken was clean and comfortable both indoor and outdoor. Walking from Tendo station to here is about 15 mins. The room is super comfortable, clean, shower and WC separated, well furnished in Japanese style. If I have a chance, will return.

Situated in Kaminoyama in the Yamagata region, Snowfall Meteor 飛雪流星 has a garden. It is located 2.2 km from Zao Onsen Ski Resort and provides luggage storage space. The guest house features family rooms. A lovely and heartwarming place to stay for a winter getaway. The couple that owns this business made us feel like family. Mao and Qu are so kind and welcoming. They treated us like family. They picked us up from the bus station, drove us to a wonderful dinner location (which they recommended), drove us to the ski resort, and helped with all our luggage. I was so happy to meet them and talk with them. The room is just as warm as the owners. The floors are heated and the beds are very comfortable. I wish I could’ve stayed longer.

Situated in Zao Onsen in the Yamagata region, with Zao Onsen Ski Resort nearby, Winter Season - 民泊 Matsuo House in Zao Onsen - Japanese Style - Private Room features accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking. I stayed for four nights here and absolute perfect experience. The house owners are a family with a kid. And can communicate with Cantonese, Chinese, English, Japanese and even Thai. They are very friendly and introduced the ski resort with nearby onsen. The room is clean and large enough for 2-3 ppl. Although the house don’t have the onsen,it only need 1 mins walk to a free public onsen. Lawson and central rope way is 5-10 mins walk. Generally I strongly recommend to all people that love staying in guest house. Totally worth it. Especially for someone is solo ski trip.
