Although we arrived late in the evening, Marie was welcoming and showed us to our very clean room. She asked us at what time we wanted our breakfast and had a full Irish (and some 😃) ready for us the next morning. Her homemade scones and brown bread were sensational. Out the dining room windows we saw their new calf and met Patch, their terrier mix dog. Marie gave us tips, maps, and info on what see in the area and gave us a tour of St. John’s old schoolhouse that is also available to book for a stay. It’s adorable! I can’t say enough about Marie and John’s hospitality and kindness. I hope to see them again if I make it to Ireland!

Located in Castlerea and only 20 km from Roscommon Racecourse, Lisalway Country Lodge provides accommodation with garden views, free WiFi and free private parking. From the moment you go in, you are treated like part of the family. Beautiful peaceful surroundings. A lovely spacious room with en-suite shower room. Nothing is too much trouble for Ron and Maureen, who are great hosts. The breakfast choice is excellent- pastries, pancakes, fresh fruit, cereals as well as the full Irish. I will also miss being greeted by Bonnie, Clyde and Bailey their beautiful labrador retrievers. With my own family living nearby I hope to return again, and wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else.

In the morning, we enjoyed a lovely breakfast with our hosts, which turned out to be the highlight of our stay. They were incredibly kind and welcoming - truly wonderful people.

My room was comfy, spacious and perfect for my stay. The location too was great as St Patrick's church; my grandparents final resting place, food shops, a windmill and bars to watch the Irish six nations in were all within walking distance. Also easy to get the local bus outside. There was also a sumptuous choice for breakfast daily, which was absolutely delicious. All the staff I met were kind and helpful and allowed my elderly aunt to visit me as she was passing through the area. I'm so grateful as I'd not seen her for around 15 years!

Having worked in the Audio Visual business for 40 years installing systems in Hotels and Guest Houses around the Country and staying in them I must give Brenda and her staff full marks . Her experience and attention to detail shines throughout this luxurious Guest House. Very welcoming, spotless throughout and bedrooms are very well kitted out with all the facilities that you would find in a top class facility. Her breakfasts are delicious 😋 with a great selection available. Well done and we highly recommend a stay here .
