The location was very central to town. The staff were very helpful and were willing to answer questions. Bonus: A pass to ride the tram for free and enter musuems for half-price. Steinenschanze Charming City & Garden Hotel is less than 5 minutes' walk from Basel's city centre and the university, close to historical buildings and the old town. It has a wonderful location, with friendly staff, they make you feel special from the first entrance. you say I'm glad I came. The hotel, which is already good so far, offers a free roaming pass, a discounted pass to many places and a map of the city without you having to ask. All this is marvellous.

We stayed for 6 nights and were incredibly happy with this outstanding apartment! It's in an excellent location, close to everything in the old town with supermarkets and restaurants nearby. The kitchen included lots of cutlery/bowls and cooking utensils and basic supplies (pepper, salt, oil, herbs, spices etc) which made cooking at home relatively easy. The bathrooms include soap and there is a dryer and clothes washer with laundry powder. Several fans were available if it gets hot at night as opening windows can let in street noise (though we slept with the windows open and it was fine). The view from the balconies was great for breakfast in the morning and a drink in the evening!
