Steinenschanze Charming City & Garden Hotel is less than 5 minutes' walk from Basel's city centre and the university, close to historical buildings and the old town. I was greeted by Elmira at the welcome desk and she made my stay very special. Always greeted with a warm smile and the hotel staff attended to all my requests. Alex from reception also had great dinner recommendations. The hotel is clean, very central, quiet, close to the main station, and has perfect water pressure. The breakfast is also fresh and super yummy.

The key pick-up and instructions were very simple and straight forward. You could already tell that the owner paid a lot of attention to details and allowing the guests to feel very welcomed. I highly highly recommend this place for its terrace. It is extremely rare to have such a space in the heart of Basel. We felt so spoiled!! After a long conference day, it is fantastic to settle down in the evening on the terrace. The drink options and kitchen were also fully stocked. We would definitely come back!

Mom and dad are senior. A little juggling the way in as there are few steps up but manageable. The apartment is very lovely. Fully equipped kitchen. Bathroom drain well. Nice shower. Host is super helpful and attentive. Public parking in the area is a little challenge but walkable distance. Very very nice location next to the river.
