It’s great to see him succeed and Mele is a must-stay place when visiting Gjirokaster … which itself is a must-visit location for a few days when exploring Albania.

The location was fantastic and within walking distance of all the major sights. It’s located in the old town, up the mountain. Make sure Google takes you on the best safe route. If it looks scary, take another path. It’s a family run business and everyone is there to help make your stay enjoyable. The staff were incredibly kind and sweet. They helped us park the car, carry in luggage, and answered all the questions we had. They also have suggestions on where to go and what sights were worth visiting. Breakfast was wonderful. We had the chance to try some local dishes with our omelettes, along with fresh fruit and coffee. We would definitely come back and recommend this place to everyone.

Every little detail was so cute and so Albanian, from the decor to the cozy atmosphere, you could feel the love and effort in every corner. The terrace had the most stunning view over the city and surrounding mountains — truly unforgettable. And the breakfast? Homemade petulla, fresh jam… everything was delicious and made with so much care. It was such a warm, beautiful experience. We’re already looking forward to coming back! 💛

Hotel Gjirokastër is located 300 metres from the centre, in a part of town famous for numerous museums. The hotel is surrounded by green gardens and large parks, while the building itself is made of traditional stone and wood. Free Wi-Fi and free parking are provided. Super nice hosts, each member of the family has been lovely, friendly, and ready to point out interesting sights of Gjirokaster. The most amazing breakfast has been served in the beautiful cafe of this boutique hotel, by the host herself. Remarkably tasty, thoughtful, delicious, presented with love and care for food and for their guests. Every morning we had different dishes to taste, what a wonderful start into the day! The location could not be better, the house is directly at the entrance to the old town, exactly where you want to be when visiting Gjirokaster, close to the historical sites, interesting museums, restaurants, and shops with traditional local products. The room in the house with lots of traditional features like playful curtains and pretty stone and woodwork has lots of space to sit comfortably, to store all things and suitcases away, and a huge bed with lovely comfortable bedding. To say only the best words would still not be good enough. So we shall simply call this accommodation the best imaginable stay in town. Try it out, you shall have no regrets!

The stay exceeded my expectations - it was very well run in regards to service, cleanliness, and overall comfort. We booked a room with a view of the castle, and we were able to enjoy it on the wrap around balcony. It had a table and two comfortable chairs. Inside the room, you had everything you could want. There was enough space to have two suitcases laid out, and enough table/counter space for things. The WIFI was very fast and reliable. The bathroom area was very clean and big. Breakfast was included, and we were greeted by a couple who prepared it. Parking was included!

All units in the hotel are fitted with a kettle. Complete with a private bathroom equipped with a shower and free toiletries, the units at Stitch&Stone Suites have a flat-screen TV and air conditioning, and selected rooms will provide you with a seating area. All guest rooms will provide guests with a wardrobe and a coffee machine. We stayed as a group of eight people, had four rooms, and each one of them was different – this truly charmed us all. Every detail, such as a toilet hidden behind a closet door, pillows decorated with lace, paintings with lace displayed under glass, the view from the windows, the very large and cozy beds – everything was so thoughtful and homely, making you feel at home while being right in the heart of the town. Breakfast was served in a nearby café – plentiful and delicious – and the service was very pleasant. For those who ordered tea, each received an entire jug! Parking was nearby as well. It was an unforgettable, fantastic experience – during our 12-day stay in Albania, this was the best choice we could have made.
