Set right in the heart of Escaldes, this modern hotel is located just 150 metres from Andorra's pedestrian shopping area, the town’s famous Caldea spa and from the new spa centre Inúu. It is conveniently located to access all Andorra’s ski slopes. Free WiFi is offered throughout and free ski storage is available in the hotel's reception. Staff at the reception were very friendly and helpful. Hotel location is great. Good selection of breakfast. Modern room fittings.

The hotel is just 15 km from Andorra La Vella, and there is free on-site parking. The Ordino-Arcalís ski station is just over 4 km away. Normally, Booking.com does me a dirty when booking places. I booked one night here and ended up staying for five. Upon my arrival I was met by staff and offered bag carrying. There is free parking out front ( snow brush and ice scraper available) or for 11 euros per night there is a garage. I had two dogs with me who slept in the vehicle, this was not an issue as all rooms are not road facing, if they had barked it would not have disturbed anyone. Just a two minute walk up the road is a trail to the river and park. Elleven minutes drive is Ordino Arcalis ski resort ( also free parking). My room had a heated floor, verypowerful shower that maintained a constant temperature always, big double bed, large TV with all apps, USB and plug sockets each side of the bed. Room has a fridge. The hotel's wifi is fast with a strong connection. Plenty of very nice towels, robes also at no additional charge ( makes a nice change). The room has a thermostat which has very little lag on bringing the temperature up or down, impressive in a large room. The cleaner is exceptionally thorough and the room was turned out beautifully every day even down to mopping the floors. The staff are totally on point, super helpful and accommodating. They arranged the veterinary appointment for my dogs travel back to UK at no extra charge also. My medical conditions ( allergies) were taken into consideration and my room allocated away from the restaurant ( note I did not eat in the restaurant so cannot comment outside of breakfast). My room had a lovelly balcony with views down the valley and of the river cascading down the rocks. The Spa: I used this twice. Once it was busy and quite noisy and another time I had the place to myself which was Bliss. The Spa was an additional fee for 90minute session. The hot stone beds being my favourite. I spent an hour on one ( there are four) listening to audio books.

Rooms at the Acta Arthotel are soundproofed and air conditioned. There is free water in the minibar. Each spacious room has a TV They are doing a lot right: really hot water immediately the tap is turned on (and it seems to last and at any time of the day); heat. They have individual thermostats that were still on...it snowed. And the only hotel I've been in in 83 countries which had the magnifying mirror at a height a woman could use...with a vanity stool to assist. My compliments.

There are fantastic restaurants just downstairs and a vibrant shopping street only a 2-minute walk away. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, assisting us with taxi bookings and recommending great local spots to eat. One of the best parts? The room was completely soundproof – we didn’t hear a single noise from outside or within the hotel.
