I love this place--and I can't remember the last time I wrote that on a booking.com review. Brand new wooden cabins squeezed in a tight valley in the middle of the woods, next to a little stream of water. The lodges owner lives in a cabin next door, warm welcome and always willing to help. The cabin was squeaky clean, had everything I could desire and even more (a piano!). The private onsen is a few steps away from the cabin, if you want something more social there's plenty of public onsens around (one down the road has a view on the river). Quiet, fresh air, plenty of hikes a short drive away. I stayed in the middle of winter, heating and thermal insulations were on point.

The cottage was well maintained and very cosily decorated. It was complete with all the amenities you could need. The private indoor and outdoor onsens were amazing for us to enjoy together as a family, especially as we have tattoos. The bed was comfortable and the kids loved sleeping in the loft upstairs.

All was perfect - if you want a private stay in a wonderful surrounding, off the tourist paths, this is the right place! Private onsen is great and the two other onsen-huts offer great views to nature, while relaxing. A lot of nice trails and hikes along beautiful rivers available nearby. Everything. Incredibly attentive and helpful staff. Ome of the best meals I have ever eaten for dinner. Very comfortable sleep. 10 private baths and so almost never have to wait for them. The small details everywhere are just perfect. It is very expensive but also fantastic and when you factor in the cost of the two meals it is not too bad at all. Great traditional ryokan experience.
