The host is a great communicator. Despite us being late, nothing was too much bother and we were given a detailed briefing on how everything in the apartment works. The apartment was very clean throughout and all towels and bedding were ultra-clean and fresh. The apartment is very well equipped throughout and appliances are modern. Balcony is big and a nice place to eat out or sit with a drin in the evening. We used the apartment for a week in mid-June as our central base for exploring the upper Aosta valley using the car: It worked very well. Plenty of parking out front. Wifi was a little slow at times but otherwise was effective. A very comfortable apartment. We liked it a lot.

We all aim for, at some point in our busy lives, that truly magical holiday location in the mountains, where we are truly able to recharge ourselves. As I write this, I’m sitting on the balcony of chalet 1175, in the mountain hamlet of Grand Haury, deep within the Aosta valley, nestled between the sublime mass of Mont Blanc and the town of Aosta itself, some 17km away. The chalet, with its stone built walls, strong oak beams and carved woodwork, harks back to history and fits perfectly into this tiny village, evoking a time long ago, without phones, tv and the internet, and when the village was a quiet haven for its inhabitants. The vista from the typical and quite beautiful balcony, looks over the tree lined slopes and the upwards to the white, snow-capped mountains that stand sentinel over the villages, and immediately hits you in its majesty. Yes, the views from our chalet are all that is needed for perfect relaxation and reflection. This beautiful chalet, situated in such a quintessential mountain hamlet, is an amazing and magical place - an experience of the real Italy and of this historic Alpine region. The chalet immediately captures you and draws you in to it. It defines what a holiday chalet should be - because you immediately feel at home within its stone walls, and beneath the typical alpine timbers. The finishing of the chalet is of the highest quality, with the most comfortable beds imaginable, and bathrooms for each bedroom, that would fit into any 4 star hotel. On arrival, there was milk, butter, a selection of finest olive oils, boundless fruit, biscuits, bread etc, and the reassurance that everywhere you looked in the cabin, or outside on the balcony or the garden, everything was finished off to the highest possible standard, whilst retaining the aesthetic charm of a genuine Italian mountain chalet - just a quite superb one, that stands out in every way.
