It is a very nice hotel in the ancient city. It’s a courtyard hotel very typical. The staff are nice and helpful. They don’t speak English but communication is very fluid thanks to translation applications.

Staying in this hotel was one of the best experiences in China 🇨🇳. The manager did an absolutely fantastic job, taking us from the railway station and providing us with warm welcome. The quality of service in China is one of the best in the world and this place is a role model. We received gifts and bathroom equipment. We were showed how to visit the city and how to manage. The big advantage for this hotel is the place itself. It looks like a historic traditional Chinese style, and it makes the stay an adventure where you can go back in a time. It is a good mix between modern standard of living and traditional climate The last thing worth to mention, I forgot to take my cosmetic and the manager sent it to my hotel in Beijing immediately. About the city, people say that it is a touristic open-air museum and it is not an actual china. It is true, but this is why it is worth visiting this place as it is inspiring and climatic. It is not touristic in terms of Turkish or Egipt scams place, but it is touristic because of its history and buildings that the government decided to keep in unchanged shape. 2 nights would be perfect to go around in rest mode, before going to more crowded and noisy cities. Beware Alipay is necessary to buy tickets online and visit all museums.

Everything was so excellent😊😊😊. The place is very convinient to the old city only by walking. It is also easy to get taxi and not far from the train stations. The host was very friendly and helpful. If you want the romance of a traditional courtyard with true boutique-hotel comfort, stay here. The property is brand-new, immaculate, and beautifully lit at night. Rooms are quiet and minimalist with great water pressure, reliable fast Wi-Fi, plenty of bedside outlets, and strong AC/heat. The bed and linens meet Western comfort standards. Breakfast can be chosen Chinese or Western—I tried both during my stay and each was fresh, well-presented, and generous (fresh juice and good coffee/tea included). Staff were proactive and friendly, arranged luggage pickup from the city gate, and communicated smoothly in English. The location is perfect for walking the lanes yet peaceful once inside the courtyard. Tips for Western travelers: cars can’t enter the old town, so message the hotel for pickup; wear comfortable shoes; and leave time to simply enjoy the courtyard—part heritage museum, part modern gallery. A flawless stay.

I really made the right choice with this homestay in Pingyao! The location is absolutely a hidden gem—just a two-minute walk gets you to Rishengchang Bank, so there’s no need to get up early to soak in the Jin merchant culture. It’s super convenient to head back for a break after visiting the attractions. What’s more, the surrounding area is bustling with life. When you stroll out in the evening, the lanterns light up, and old shops and street food stalls are right in front of you, full of that lively, authentic vibe. No need to hunt for places to eat; just step into any spot, and it’s sure to be delicious. The biggest surprise, though, is the service here—they truly take care of every little detail. When I checked in, the owner warmly introduced local attractions, even telling me which shop has the most authentic Pingyao beef and the best time to visit Rishengchang to avoid crowds. That kind of thoughtful care makes the whole trip feel so warm. I’ll definitely stay here again when I come back to Pingyao. Great location, amazing atmosphere, and service that’s second to none—highly recommended!

Our stay was perfect. The owner and his daughter did everything to make us feel at home. The place was really beautiful, our room was cozy and warm. They cooked us breakfast even if we had to leave early in the morning. They were so kind to take us to the train station. If you come to Pingyao this is the perfect place to stay!

Everything about it was amazing. First of all, location is absolutly perfect, right in the center of the old town, right next to the crossing of the two main steets. And despite that, we were well isolated from the noise in the evening. The room was very cosy, located at the back of a traditional courtyard. It was spotless and looked great. We even received a lovely little carpackage with local specialities. And last but not least, the personnel was extremely kind and accomodating. Alice gave us all the tips and information on how best to visit Pingyao and helped us with reservations and ticket purchasing, etc…
