Rebuilt in 2014, Quest on Thorndon offers art deco-style apartments with free WiFi and a fully equipped kitchen. Guests receive free access to the CityFitness gym located next to the property. Excellent location for the station to catch the Northern Explorer train. A washing machine in the apartment let us do some final laundry before the flight home.

Set on a large country estate with sweeping gardens and panoramic views of the Wairarapa wine-growing region, Parehua Resort features an open-air bar and fine dining restaurant. We loved the pool and hot tub! Very tidy place and private, too. The continental breakfast was impressive and tasty, with no single use plastics! We were very pleased with this place overall.

Thinking of staying in Wellington…don’t skip past it off the ferry and use this place as your base just 30 mins outside the city and its night and day compared to accommodation in the city. The hosts were lovely and very helpful, there were actually birds singing (and feeding) just off the porch! The rooms and layout is very nice, one of the best places we stayed in on our month in NZ! Great recommendation for a restaurant (the Waterfront was v good).
