Perhaps a gated community for a lovely lady snapped shot photos of us entering the unit we could have been intruders:). A decent walk from the station to this abode. A variety of eaterys nearby. Gjestehuset Borggata 18 is a recently renovated campground in Fredrikstad, where guests can make the most of its terrace and shared lounge. This campground provides free private parking, a shared kitchen and free WiFi. The breakfast was an unexpected surprise - a large fridge was stocked with everything you might want. The bedrooms and communal areas were comfortable and superclean. The property does not look particularly inviting from the outside, but "don't judge a book by its cover". Walking distance to the town centre and a large range of restaurants. Friendly and helpful host, keen to ensure that we had everything we needed and that everything was to our satisfaction. Convenient with free car park across the road - get a parking card from the host. Would gladly stay here again on a journey north or south. Highly recommended.

This apartment-hotel is in the "old town" part of Drammen, more charming and more restaurants compared to the other side of the river (based on my observation and the comments from my colleagues who were staying in hotels on the other side of the river). The kitchen was well stocked with crockery, cutlery and pots and pans. Espresso machine worked well - more capsules available at the supermarket across the road. Bathroom well stocked with hand wash and lotion, shampoo/body wash and conditioner. Loved having the washing machine - there was a drying rack and things dried quickly overnight. Bed was very comfy and so was the couch in the living room. Easy to cast from your phone to the TV for apps like Youtube and I believe there was also Netflix. Lovely view of the Bragernes church tower from the window (I was on the top floor). Elin provided quick assistance when asked via the Bookings.com app. Easy to get into the building with the app (download Upkey before your stay....instructions to do this came while I was travelling and it was difficult to download on the move) or a provided keycard and into the apartment with a short number. Short walk over the bridge to the train station - note there is an elevator on the train station side but you have to look for it behind the staircase, and no stairs on the hotel side of the river. Wifi worked very well, in fact better than the office I was working at during the week. Coworker had an even nicer room across the hall from me.
