The hotel is absolutely beautiful, spotlessly clean, with delicious breakfasts and extremely friendly staff. Upon arrival, we were welcomed with a shot of local coconut arrack, fresh papaya juice, and a cold wet towel for refreshment — a lovely touch. Our room was spacious and even had a second exit to a terrace just a few meters from the stunning pool, where pool towels were always available. Every morning, after enjoying a fantastic serving of curd with honey and a fresh fruit platter, we were offered a choice between a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast or a Western-style breakfast — all beautifully prepared and delicious. Every day, we were provided with one liter of water per person and a fresh king coconut each. The staff checked daily if we wanted our room cleaned, fresh towels, extra toilet paper, shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner — amazing care for guests. The hotel also has a private gated parking area where we safely parked our tuk-tuk, and there’s even a professional massage chair available for everyone in the common area. Highly recommended — we would definitely stay here again!

We planned to only stay a few days but ended up spending a full week at Serendip because we liked it so much. The property is in a quiet, peaceful area and the staff were so friendly! Comfortable room with a/c, nice shared kitchen, delicious breakfasts, washing machine to do laundry. Plus it is within walking distance to Talalla beach which was one of the most beautiful, least crowded beaches we visited on the whole island.

I booked this property based on a review written by a family similar to ours. And the open air bathroom. We are a family of 4 with a 5 yr old girl and 2 year old boy. We rented the large family suite and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Less then 5 mins from the beach, large comfortable double beds with mosquito nets, a shared kitchenette, large comfortable bathroom with hot water and AC. The owners were such lovely accommodating people. The best part was the location. Hiritekiya is an Instagramy digital nomady hotspot, and Jungle Escape is located in the less developed part of the beach. So we were close to everything but in a more tranquil environment.

The Surf Lodge is beautifully decorated with a lot of love and taste. It offers amazing breakfast and a direct access to the beach. It is managed by the super kind Che who was always very attentive to help us organize a few things around the area. What we particularly loved about the hotel (apart from the amazing spacious rooms and the delicious (vegetarian) food) was that it is Che’s family home and has such a friendly and calming vibe :) it’s only a short walk to local restaurants and bars and Madiha’s main beach is also only a few minutes away. It was really great place to stay, we spend almost a week and it was really perfect. Host was really amazing, so helpful and at the end of our stay he even drove us to the bus stop to make sure that we get to the right bus. The place itself is quite simple, comfortable bed, simple bathroom with warm water, we had everything that we needed, including really nice tarace. I would definitely come back.
