For birders, Wanakaset deserves special praise: I recorded nearly 50 beautiful species including a number of Sri Lankan endemics during my stay! The butterfly diversity, mammals, flora, and wild mushrooms are also impressive. At night fall asleep to the frog symphony and the spectacle of a forest canopy sparkling with fireflies, and wake up to an enchanting dawn chorus of bird song. Later, stroll down the path to take a refreshing swim in the river, then enjoy a cup of hand-made local tea picked an processed right on site. It's a place you won't want to leave.
