Where to start.. this stay really went straight to our hearts <3 From the second we arrived Madu and his crew took great care of my husband and I. We had half board but opted for lunch on the property as well. The lunch serving and evening BBQ was some of the best meals we had on the entire trip. We also did two safaris arranged by the property and this worked really well. Madu the "all around guy" was also our safari guide and all though he was new at the job at Yala Wild Hut, he was very vigilant and professional. He never left our side whenever outside the tents, I guess for service and safety and we never felt unsafe at any time. This whole experience of staying in the wild and getting to know these people and their story really touched us deeply. We are so grateful for this authentic experience!

Secondly, Sandhu was a great host. He's a very polite and professional young man who clearly understands what guests want. He took good care of everything and was always available but also gave us enough privacy. Absolutely recommended!

He arranged an incredible dinner for us (his mother cooked) and the breakfast was also awesome. He also played some UNO almost until midnight with us and we talked a lot about stuff in Sri Lanka and Yala especially. The vila is big and beautiful, the rooms are completely soundproof (the massive doors help a lot). Udara also hosts three snakes in a tree in the garden and they are so small and beautiful, and also harmless. He also went with us to a temple nearby and explained the history of it. Accommodation has a brilliant location, just a few minutes walk from bus station. Perhaps a bit spartan, but does the job, ideal for those traveling on shoestring. Excellent value!

Jami Hotel was the highlight of our trip! Not only was our stay extremely comfortable, but the owner really took care of us. We saw animals from the restaurant, including a monitor lizard, crocodile, king fisher, parrots, etc. The best part was the safari they organized for us. We saw 3 leopards and a sloth bear during our full day safari. They even prepared our breakfast and lunch with plenty of water. We had prebooked with a different safari company the day before and were a bit disappointed with the first trip. With Jami, we really couldn't ask for a better driver or a better host. They made our stay so special.

The garden is very beautiful and well maintained. The pool is chic and very clean, the water has a perfect temperature. The owners are very friendly and always willing to help you. They can cook you a delicious, fresh dinner, cooked on the spot, or they can organize various excursions in the area (safari, temple visit, kayaking on the lagoon, etc.). The breakfast is rich and very tasty, with fruit from the owners' garden. The atmosphere in the area is very quiet, there are not many tourists, you can meet locals which gives the place a truly authentic atmosphere.
