Situated within 500 metres of Manda Beach and 500 metres of Shela Beach in Lamu, Jua House provides accommodation with seating area. Housed in a building dating from 2015, this bed and breakfast is 200 metres from the Mnarani House. The bed and breakfast features city views and a sun terrace. The staff, food and overall ambience made our visit one of the nicest stays we’ve had in a long time. Immaculate facilities. The place is just so tastefully decorated and well thought out. Morning coffee on the terrace overlooking the harbour…. The village of Shela is lovely. No cars. Clean beaches.

The bright rooms at Subira House have either a patio or a balcony and some have sea views and free Wi-Fi. Every room has a fan, a seating area, and a dining area. The staff are always very helpful in case of anything. The room was clean, the entire hotel was clean and you can walk around barefoot.

Free WiFi is available throughout the property and 18th Century Swahili House Museum is 100 metres away. The house is a beautiful gem within old lamu town. The architecture is stunning, the rooms are freshened by fans and the pool is great to escape the day’s heat. The house staff is incredibly helpful and Peter was a great caretaker. We would also warmly recommend arranging a tour of the old town and of shela, as well as a boat tour if one wishes, with Abu. Abu is knowledgeable and loves his job; he is a great storyteller and a great artist (ask to see his recycled art). Walking around Lamu with him and learning about this unique place from him was a wonderful experience.

Some units also have a well-fitted kitchen equipped with an oven, a toaster, and a fridge. This hostel is located in a gorgeous old Swahili style house. The manager is the BEST. So helpful he even had me picked up at the airport. It is located in the center of Lamu town really close to everything. Rooms are quite big. WiFi worked very well.

The property features garden and sea views, a barbecue, and free WiFi is available. The staff was INCREDIBLE. I felt like every single person was going out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed. They were able to arrange a PCR test, change money, accomodate meals and arrange activities. The yoga classes were wonderful and appropriate for the heat, the food was excellent. I could go on and on about how amazing my stay was.

Boasting family rooms, this property also provides guests with a year-round outdoor pool. This villa was gorgeous, in the historic Swahili style of Lamu. We had the loveliest time here. The location is relatively quiet though you are in the middle of town - we walked everywhere easily. There is also good Wi-Fi which was great for us as we were working remotely on some of the days. The rooftop has a lovely breeze and sitting area where the Wi-Fi reaches. There is also a very nice sitting area around the small pool. Jamhuri, who welcomed us on arrival, was friendly and easy to communicate with. With enjoyed every moment of our stay and I would definitely return again.
