We had a large apartment with all modern facilities provided for 7 days. We were on the 10th floor with a wrap around balcony which gave us 280 degree views of the ocean, Kii Mountains and Shirahama town. The complex is very new so all accessories were in very good order. The bath for a Japanese facility was very large and thus used often. We chose this apartment complex because of it's location to the beach, supermarket and onsens. We especially enjoyed being able to cook for ourselves and everything necessary for that was provided.

This guesthouse is located along one of the Kumano Kodo Pilgrimage Routes and Yunomine Hot Spring, said to be one of the oldest hot springs baths in Japan, is a 5-minute walk from the property. The hostel was fantastic. We rented a tatami room, which was spotless, very comfortable and with a really nice view. The onsen was amazing, we absolutely loved it. Everything was clean, there were snacks, eggs to boil in the onsens in town and all cooking and serving tools to eat them afterwards. The bathrooms were incredibly clean. This was our favourite stay along the Kumano Kodo, despite being the cheapest.

The staff is friendly and welcoming, as a solo traveller I enjoyed spending some time chatting with them and other people around. I had dinner there, and food and beer were really good! They also had great recommendations for food and places to visit. There is also a public bath nearby for which they provide towels and soap and entrance at discounted fee.

Guests are free to attend Buddhist morning services, the Goma fire ritual and meditation. I booked the room with private Onsen/bathroom and garden. It was absolutely amazing. What a beautiful and calm place. Very comfortable. Amazing food. Great experience. My room was a bit more modern with heating and lots of light and newer wood but the other rooms looked nice too, darker wood and more traditional. I think any room is worth a stay. The entire experience was special and beautiful.

It is located 29 km from Kamitonda Concert Hall and features full-day security. The guest house has parking on-site, a hot tub and a shared kitchen. I enjoyed everything there, the food was delicious and after a long walk the room was very comfortable. The host was very nice and facilitated everything for our stay.

The guest house features rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. what a great little place. If you have a small group, the 4 ppl room on the 3rd floor is perfect. The place has lots of great info in multiple languages and the affiliated izakaya was the perfect place to go for dinner.

This was one of our best stays sure a 3 week trip through Japan. We only stayed one night but would stay longer next time. Would definitely recommend!

Kabuki and Keita have created a welcoming and comfortable space for travelers. The room was simple and perfect with a comfy bed, small table with lamp and wash area. The breakfast was probably the best I’ve ever had — not just in Japan, but ever! So much care in every detail with homemade and fresh yogurt, granola, breads and juices. The generous breakfast kept me full until afternoon! They were helpful with suggestions for the area. The central location is great — can walk to most places in Shirahama and near many restaurants and cafes. They also run a small cafe. I loved the care and attention to details. If in Shirahama again I would only stay here!

This place is stunning and spacious - it includes a gorgeous living room downstairs as well as the kitchen and bathroom. There is another seating area upstairs and the bedroom. It is also in the traditional Japanese style, which we love! The highlights for us though were two parts: First, the host is incredible! You cannot drive up to the house because the last road is too steep so he showed us where to park near the base and then drove us up in his bigger car. (He kindly did this again in the morning when we left, even though we had to leave very early!) Second, the view is incredible! It was a stunning way to start the day. Our only regret is we wish we'd stayed longer :)
