Set in Takashima in the Shiga region, Marumo Ryokan offers accommodation with free private parking, as well as access to a public bath. I really enjoyed this place.

Inase Otsu Machiya Bed and Breakfast, a property with a garden and a shared lounge, is situated in Otsu, 10 km from Daigo-ji Temple, 11 km from Shoren-in Temple, as well as 11 km from Samurai Kembu Kyoto. Featuring garden and inner courtyard views, this bed and breakfast also comes with free WiFi. Kiyomizu-dera Temple is 12 km away and Mount Hiei is 14 km from the bed and breakfast. Loved our stay here - even changed our plans to stay an extra day. The guesthouse is only 20 minutes from Kaito, with a direct train running to Otsu. The guesthouse was so authentic - with a lovely zen garden. The breakfast is a must - we had a traditional Japanese breakfast with salmon, rice and associated condiments. The staff were wonderful - made so many great recommendations - a fabulous local restaurant - great food and amazingly friendly staff. And suggested we go to the beach (on the lake) for a very chilled day. And even dropped us at the train.

Biwako Hanakaido features outdoor and indoor hot-spring baths, 3 dining options and rooms with a balcony and Lake Biwako views. It also has a garden and a sauna, while the lobby offers free WiFi. A free shuttle runs to/from JR Ogoto-Onsen Station, which is a 5-minute ride away. The location was good, both for private car and public transport (close to train station and it provided shuttle bus services). The staff who served us were warm and welcoming. Our room was clean and neat, slept on tatami and was able to see the lake. Onsen was excellent. Both dinner and breakfast, in Japanese dishes, were excellent. Highly recommended for families and couples who wanted a quiet stay.

Like other onsen ryokan, they offer pick up service from the station, in addition, they are so thoughtful, when we leave, they offer several drop off spot in case some of us want to take the cable car, ropeway back to Rurikoin temple area in Kyoto. Very thoughtful. We booked the spa service ahead of time and it's very enjoyable. We upgrade our room with a private onsen, they fill up the water and keep it warm just so we won't have to wait, very thoughtful. The food is super good quality, enjoyable. I highly recommend staying at this place. Really 10/10!!
